Single Gender Boarding Schools - feedback from the guys

Our son is at an all-boys jr. boarding school & will be applying for secondary boarding schools. For those who have attended or are attending an all boys prep school (or parents of same), what was it like for you? What are the advantages or disadvantages? Are you glad you made the choice you did?

Depends on the kid. I personally hate my single sex school as do most of my classmates. I also feel that the standard of students admitted are lower. It`s not real life. Even the army is coed.

Thank you, maddog15, your opinion is important to me. I am sorry that so many are unhappy with the school. Did you freely choose the school or did your parents have most of the say? Are there other things about the school that you guys don’t like?

Anyone else have thoughts about grade 9-12 single sex schools?

I actually picked the school for sports. Don
t get me wrong, some guys like it here but most I met don
t. I personally think girls in the mix make guys act more mature.

@maddog15,
You have hit on something that I have noticed. I go to an all boys middle school (not boarding) and that’s one of the problems with it. Girls do make guys act more mature. The kids in my school act MUCH more mature around girls
