single room for transfer?

are there any opportunities for a single room for transfer students? which housing is the best for a transfer? i like having my own privacy and i think having a single room is the best option.

also, does it cost a lot more to have a single compared to a double?

Vista Del Campo and Vista Del Camp Norte both offer single rooms. They are quite pricy iirc…somewhere in the $800-900/mo. rage. Not sure if you can get in though…space is quite limited even for current UCI students. That’s pretty much it as far as single rooms go. You can look for other private housing…maybe renting a room in someone’s house?

how about a single room in residence halls, is that cheaper?

i dormed before at UCSD, and i liked it besides having a double. a lot of people seem to discourage transfers from dorming for some reason though.

UCI does not allow you to live in residence halls as a transfer, and it’s way more expensive anyway.

i see, thanks. kind of weird how they let you say you’re gonna live in the halls as a transfer on the application.

do you think a single room at vista del campo/norte is cheaper than if you were to live in a residence hall? i lived in a residence hall at ucsd and financial aid covered a lot of it.

i’m receiving about $23,000 in grants/aid from UCI. this leaves 7000 in loans a year to cover the rest of the costs. i really want a single room, but i don’t know if my financial aid would cover it without taking further loans…

You might need to take out a bit in loans based on the financial aid you’re giving you…VDC/Norte is definitely cheaper than the dorms though, even for a double room. The mandatory meal plan drives the cost up. Be careful though…if you marked “On Campus” for your housing option on the FAFSA and then don’t live on campus, UCI might decrease the amount of aid you get. VDC/Norte are not on campus.

thanks for the help. i marked “on campus” for my aid, but for residence halls.

i submitted my changes through the aid website, so lets see how much it changes.

however it still lists VDC/norte as “on campus”, so hopefully they don’t take much away.
