If I get accepted, I'll be attending Exeter. Now, I hear that at Exeter new uppers/seniors live in houses, not dorm buildings, is this true? Is there a choice to live in a dorm building?

Also, can I choose between single or double? I really think I'd prefer a double... it'd suck to be alone all the time! That may change when the time comes, but you know what I'm sayin'. =]

I'm not sure about the new uppers/seniors thing, but I can give you input on living in a single vs. living in a double.

I currently live in a single and I LOVE living in a single. It's nice to have your own space and privacy. There are so many reasons to live in a single--here's a list:

Why Singles Rock:

You choose the layout of your room and how you want to decorate it.

There is no such thing as roommate problems.

You actually have privacy.

When you're studying, you can dictate whether you want peace and quiet or loud music.

You won't be alone very much, because most of the time people will be in your room or you will be in their rooms.

Many, many more reasons that I won't list because I have homework to do.

i have a friend in a double who want to switch at term because she is lonely and bored in her single. everyone hangs out in the doubles too because their bigger. plus, its like an ista-buddy. unless you are a total privacy freak who needs their own space i would suggest a double. besides, you can just go in the bathroom or hall if you need to talk on the phone or change.
then again, if you are a senior or upper, almost everybody has a single. almost every prep has a double, some lowers have doubles, but almost all senior/upper/pg's have singles. the upperclassmen singles are better than lower classman singles two. proctors (seniors in charge) get first picks, then by class you draw. although this may be diferent per dorm. first yr you're prob assigned.
