Single rooms in a dorm

Are single rooms in the Units reserved for disabled only? I couldn't find this information in the cal housing website.

I think they're also reserved for upperclassmen and of course RA's.

Do you know if sophomores can also get a single room? I thought upperclassmen mostly moved out to apartments?

Single rooms are really expensive. I'd rather just move to an apartment if I wanted to live by myself. I had one roommate (I lived in a triple) move out to an apartment by herself and she said it was cheaper than the units. I don't know the exact amount it costs though. I heard craigslist is a good place to find apartments.

There's a junior transfer on our floor that lives in a single, so, I think Yourzer is correct.

Single rooms are not that much more expensive than doubles. I believe the difference between a single and double amounts to less than $200 per YEAR in Foothill. This is well-worth it if you want to be in a single, but still have the dorm experience.

Of course, off-campus housing is much cheaper.
