I had a fairly large single in Edens…around 135 square feet if I remember correctly.

Let me tell you about how I laid it out. I had an L Shaped room, so imagine walking in, its just a rectangular space longer than it is wide, with a little nook in the back left. I put my bed along the back wall, as well as my desk. Then on the right side I had a fridge with a low row of grid squares for storage. On the left was my closet, and I also had a papasan chair. It was actually a ton of space. Keep in mind, however, that most singles are just a rectangular (I believe most in Aycock are like this), so your bed will probably have to go along a wall, losing a lot of floor space. That said…

TV: I had a 26 inch flatscreen, so it fit nicely on top of those grid squares. It might be a good idea to wait and see what your room is like, because if you have to put it, say, on top of your microfridge you’re probably not going to be able to swing one that large. See what sort of storage/floor space you have once you get there to figure out where it could go and how big you can go.

Futon: Some people made it happen. I could have theoretically fit one, but my single was pretty big. Once again, wait until you get to school and see the room.

Closet: Mine was just a tiny hole in the wall. BUT many people my freshman year who had singles had walk-ins. I lived in Jarvis, which is basically Aycock except across the way, so your closet might be pretty sizeable but you never know. It varies based on the room. I knew people in Edens with huge closets, but mine was tiny. I knew people in Crowell with tiny closets and mine was big.

Fridge/Micro: Definitely something to have. I just bought my own, and used them each year. Depends on the convenience factor and what it means to you. But you’ll def have room and want these.

General walking space: Depends on the room, and how you lay it out. You’ll have room to move though. With my 135 square foot room I had a ton of space to fit lots of people/walk around.

Lofting a bed: I know in Jarvis the beds are NOT pre-lofted yet so lofting is probably still an option in Aycock, and I’d say go for it. I bought a loft from a friend for like, $100, and loved it. It gets a bit annoying climbing up to bed after awhile, but it will give you TONS of space. See your room, and then it you want go for it.

In terms of the AC, I’m not sure if those floor units are TECHNICALLY approved, but if no one knows, it doesn’t exist:)
