I never quite got where they came from, but they always seem to be around to help out with decorating, mixing drinks, whatever needs to be done. And I am quite sure they would never dig burrows in a levee in Missouri. :)

binx – I know what you mean about keeping up. I haven’t been here in the Alley all that long, but now that I’m here, I’m afraid to leave! So, even though I may go for some time without “participating,” I check in regularly to find out what the heck’s going on.

binx-
The beauty of SA is that the topics change constantly, often wit no rhyme or reason, and it’s perfectly fine. Whenever someone comes in to rant or laugh or cry- they jsut throw it out there and a few folks jump on in ad share a round. Besides-- in a few posts or a few days, most of us dont remember wht in tarnations we were talking about. Thats what makes it SA. Please don’t leave. Then I’ll start feeling like I was in middle school and being rejected at the playground :(

By the way-- pour me a double. DS#2 totalled his car today. He and trhe other person whose car he rear ended are fine. So is her big ol SUV (bumper damage to fix- thats it). His car went right up under hers-. Totalled. Sigh…

oh dear! jym, so glad all are OK. Marmots, jym needs a hefty drink with triple umbrellas. And please bring that massage chair over here for her. Cheers, jym. To keeping all our kids safe!

Thanks, mafool. I could definitely use a break from all this. DS got that speeding ticket a few weeks ago. Now we have 2 court dates in 2 different counties. Fortunately the first court date got changed, b/c otherwise thy’d have been on the SAME MORNING (gee, just like our graduation scheduling conflict all over again..)

Oh dear, jym. What will you do about the car? Replace it? Let him walk? Was he planning to take a car to college? (At this point, I don’t think I’d let him!) Can’t mean good news for your insurance, either.

But atleast he’s okay, as is the other driver. Ultimately that trumps everything.

I think we need to bring Better Car Karma to young jymson.

Isn’t he going to an urban school next year? No need for car, thank the marmots. Hoping he can walk, skip, bicycle, Segue around town for a while until the Kar Karma Marmots work their magic.

jym, I am so sorry about your son’s accident, but very glad that nobody was hurt. Good luck with the court cases, car repairs, and car insurance. Ouch!

Unfurrow your worried eyebrows at SA. No botox, just nutty talk in a delightful Adult ADD mode.

Thanks binx, LImom, jmmom-
Dont plan to get another car right now, as no, he can’t take one to school as a freshman. Hoping htat maybe when we put DS#2’s insurance on temporary hold when he goes to school the rates may drop a bit. Who knows. Well, at least at this point we have one less car to insure…

jym–my S in Cgo emailed that he heard Stevie Wonder too! Well, with 50,000 people at the festival, it was hard to see him.

Too bad about the accident. We just took S off as he graduated…saved us some surprisingly big bucks. Oh, those under-25 male drivers. :(

Thanks mommusic. Yes, summerfest was/is a blast from what I hear.

We will be taking DS#1 off the insurance (ie he’ll get or pay his own) but right now the car he drives is still in our name, so I think we have to keep him for the time being. However, we’ll be working that out with the insu co. S#2 will be put on “student away at college” when he goes in 2 mos, so hopefully there is a light at the end of this tunnel.

Whoa- sorry about the car accident but glad everyone is OK. Your crew is working at catching up with WildChild!

Hi jym,
so sorry I missed the birthday celebrations [ very belated HBirthday!] and now am just reading about your son’s accident[very glad he is ok] ! yikes! Your insurance should drop a bundle if you put him on the student away from home plan- in Calif we saved $1000/ yr when we made that change. Hope it will take some of the “sting” out of his accident.

I just came in from helping an organization clean up trash by the side of the interstate–cleaning up America one exit at a time, I suppose–and after I showered the sweat, grime, and possible poison ivy off me, here’s what I had to drink:

coffee, quickly chilled down with ice (remove ice)
flavored with Kahlua & hazelnut syrup
and a dollop of ice cream

I feel so much better now! :)

mmmmmm I want one of those. Can you put whipped cream on mine?

:)

thanks, menlo!
Those do sound seriously yummy, mommusic-- but do they make a diet version???

I made it in a short glass, so it wasn’t a seriously diet-busting treat. Just a “dollop” of ice cream, and I guess you could use diet ice cream if you wanted.

I’ve always had a high metabolism, I guess. If it makes you feel better, remember in a time of starvation, people like me will be the first to go. :D

gosh…

Can’t turn my back on ya’ll for a minute. Pulling my home peeps up from page 3.

Was I furrowing my eyebrows? I thought I was getting a big unibrow (phew!!). The one thing I love is that if you done shave and pluck everyday, no one gives you flack about it especially now that we are coming to that certain age where stay hairs come out every where except for on top of your head.

jym, sorry to hear about the accident but glad that every one is ok. Tell that son of yours that there is not a system of checks and balances that just because you bring in “X” $ in scholarship money does not mean that you have a declining balance account where you get to spend money on fixing z dinged car, and stuff like that. let him know this is really cutting into our slush fund (especially now that it is hot and drinks with ice cream does not seem like a bad idea).

Barkeep,

Send 2 mudsliders down this way for me and jym!!
