No, Smiling Goat is obviously a yoga pose! :)

Well, I have to report not as much progress on apps as hoped, but we were all smiling Sunday as the Bengals beat the Steelers! Tho my SIL was surely crying in HIS beer.

the SA was on the 3rd page. Doesn’t anyone have any problems?

Well, West Coast Publics schools, on the quarter system, officially started Sept 30. I talked to unattached DS who is done but working at a research university as a profs staff engineer, assisting grad students…

I asked, “Did you check it out?” *Check what, he replies. * “The new students.” *Why? * “Aren’t you interested in the type of undergrad girls at your new school?” *Why should I be interested. I don’t ever come into contact with undergrads. * “Then what about the new grad students in the department?” Prof didn’t get any this year

Sigh.

Double vodka, cheap and neat.

LongPrime–what’s that whooshing sound I hear? :D

^:^ Just wait. Your time will come.
I’m just afraid that their won’t be any whoosing.

Another double. My sister is visiting.

LongPrime, are the “old” grad students spoken for?

Anybody you have in mind inside of 28? He’s 24.
:p

and gentle :)

I’ve read LongPrime’s last post seven times and can’t make sense of it. I must need another one. Barkeep, can I get a Prawn Salad down here?

Just what have those shrimp been swimming in?; If you have go around the post 7 times?

I have stay at my mother’s house to keep sister and mother from killing each other.
DS is having great fun in everything except the opposite sex. Or even the same sex.

Another double.
And a double for my friend’s swimming shrimp salad.

Make mine a double.

Son is working on his apps, online, lost a couple of hours work when the site ate it, and I have a new plan: Stay in SA until he is done.

Edit: I also just noticed my postings begin with the number 13. This can’t be good.

S is almost done with his first apps. They’ll go in this week.

Forget the drinks. I’ve gained enough weight eating and drinking! Time for some retail therapy.

I’ll pay retail price for my next drink and call it therapy. I think a plain ol’ gin Martini is in order this evening, with one-a them fancy, blue-cheese-stuffed olives.

I almost came in here last night but went to bed instead.

Just came off a weekend of worry. Don’t you love it when kids don’t call (or answer the phone or email) and you KNOW something is going on, so you worry? Then when they finally break radio silence, they assure you they didn’t want you to worry?

Sheesh. Put some Kahlua in my morning coffee.

This thread is quietly sinking to the bottom of page 1… At 9 pm last night, I checked my e-mail. Nope, no drafts, not even a spam message! I decided that I could relax, poured myself a glass of red wine and asked H if he wanted some. H wanted hot cider with a splash of rum. You should have seen how high my cat jumped (and the expression of utter disgust on her face) after she sniffed H’s drink!

Is it wrong to curl up on the orange naugahyde with a hat pulled down over my eyes and ears until April?

Tequila, please for everyone at the bar tonight and keep 'em coming…

I can’t explain why, but gin and tonic with a wedge of lime is exactly the right drink to enjoy while reading my alumni magazine that arrived today.

mantori, what kind of beverage would you pair with a really boring scientific manuscript?

Hmm…going by name alone, I’d say a SkyLab:

* 1 oz Vodka

But all that fruit and color seems too festive, so I’m going to say a really good imported beer. My choice would be Grolsch.

Wishing everyone a good weekend!

DS is coming home for fall break. He has/we have some decisions to make about his future, so should I start drinking now??? :D

Mommusic - is your DS mine? He’s also coming home for fall break this weekend, but will not be going back to college. I’m going to start drinking now.

Barkeep, drinks for the house on me! (maybe Mantori’s Skylab–in honor of the Balloon flight yesterday–and put those cute little umbrellas in)

DS has submitted all apps as of today - yay! There is now a chance of seeing my dining room table for the first time in months- Bigger yay! That twitch I was developing at the sight and sound of the words “college apps” is disappearing!
Marmots must have talked to stock market gods this week…401K not bleeding nearly as much as it had been.
And the marmots must have convinced the weather gods that the 6 inches of rain here on Tuesday was sufficient…it’s a beautiful day here (in MANY ways!)

cheetos for all, too!
