<p>Well, West Coast Publics schools, on the quarter system, officially started Sept 30. I talked to unattached DS who is done but working at a research university as a profs staff engineer, assisting grad students…</p>
<p>I asked, “Did you check it out?” *Check what, he replies. * “The new students.” *Why? * “Aren’t you interested in the type of undergrad girls at your new school?” *Why should I be interested. I don’t ever come into contact with undergrads. * “Then what about the new grad students in the department?” Prof didn’t get any this year</p>
<p>Sigh. </p>

<p>Just came off a weekend of worry. Don’t you love it when kids don’t call (or answer the phone or email) and you KNOW something is going on, so you worry? Then when they finally break radio silence, they assure you they didn’t want you to worry? </p>

<p>This thread is quietly sinking to the bottom of page 1… At 9 pm last night, I checked my e-mail. Nope, no drafts, not even a spam message! I decided that I could relax, poured myself a glass of red wine and asked H if he wanted some. H wanted hot cider with a splash of rum. You should have seen how high my cat jumped (and the expression of utter disgust on her face) after she sniffed H’s drink!</p>
<p>Is it wrong to curl up on the orange naugahyde with a hat pulled down over my eyes and ears until April?</p>

<p>I can’t explain why, but gin and tonic with a wedge of lime is exactly the right drink to enjoy while reading my alumni magazine that arrived today.</p>
