@natjan: You’re from Rancho too right? Well I saw Vista del Campo and Vista del Campo Norte which I would compare to Jamboree and Carmel apartments (behind Target). They are very roomy and casual without feeling to “college-y”. I also saw Puerta del Sol which is geared to grad students but is offering doubles for upper-divisions to meet demands. While the only $499 a month price tag is nice, the rooms are tiny. They squeezed two twin beds and one dresser in and there isn’t even room for a desk (huge negative for me).
Finally I fell in love with Camino del Sol… It’s like Rancho raised to a slightly higher caliber. Not sure if you go to Victoria Gardens a lot, but they are very comparable to the town homes directly behind the parking structures. Camino is pretty nice and the private baths in each bedroom, hardwood floors (faux, but hard to tell) and “granite” counter tops in the kitchen say anything but broke college kid apartment… I think I’m hooked.

@aninstance: yeah, get your living arrangements figured out now. The application opened up like 2 weeks ago for the on campus apartments and I’m on a waiting list for all four properties. I just need to pray that the students are irresponsible and don’t turn in their leases within the allotted seven days.

I know exactly what you are talking about. The apts. by Victoria Gardens are niiicceee. I honestly will be stuck commuting until I either find awesome roommates in my program, ideally, or I get married and move out of the house. And the latter definitely won’t happen before I finish my first year.

^ I feel your pain. I’ve been waiting to get married to my HS sweetheart since I was 15 lol but we’re trying to go for the typical college experience, at least for one year. We’ve already waited 5, what’s one more. Never lose hope lol, it’ll happen when we’re ready.

Haha, oh I know. My bf is at UCR right now and we are scheduled to graduate at the same time, roughly and both plan on doing masters/doctorate degrees. I figure, no rush, we are sure we are marrying each other but I’m totally aching to get out of my house and feel slightly like an adult. Sorry, I could easily turn this thread into a dating/growing up thread.

Lol… let’s make one, threads here are like apps, there’s one for everything - even if it’s pointless.

Maybe that was your situation, but mine was deferred until September.

"You have successfully submitted your SIR. Your non-refundable $100 deposit will appear as a part of your student fees on your Fall 2011 billing statement. Please note the confirmation number below and print a copy for your records.

Pay fees.

Deadline: September 15"

I’m sure that if some of you speak to the financial aid office, they could work something out with you.

Well this is weird, I emailed UCSD about the $100 fee and got this in return:

"Adam,

Your SIR has been received and you are not required to submit $100.00 deposit.

Sincerely,

Sweet.

Quick question.

If I’ve SIRed to one school telling them I’m attending. And then I SIRed negatively to another school, declining their admission offer, that’s okay right? Or am I not supposed to submit a negative SIR if I wasn’t going to attend?
Kind of confused :/

You can decline admission, but it’s not required. It won’t hurt or help. The schools probably prefer it because that opens up a potential spot for another student.

Okay thanks! Because I got an email saying your SIR has been received for the offer that I declined. So I just wanted to make sure I didn’t SIR to two schools.
So once again to double check, I have accepted an admission offer with one SIR and I have declined the other offer with the negative SIR, right?

That’s correct.

SIR’d to UCSC
Got into all the schools I applied for (UCLA, UCD, UCM, UCSC)
I also got the deffered payment. anxious to move to a new area!!!

**** I SIRed to berkeley while I was totally drunk. I guess I have to go to cal now

Am I only supposed to SIR to only one university? If there are two universities I will possibly go, can I submit SIRs to both of them?

nero103: haha at least you did it to Cal and not like, UCR while having an acceptance at Cal.

@Grimes99: I sent my SIR to UCLA earlier this week and it gave me the same message. Are you getting financial aid?

I wanna SIR to Cal soooo bad, but I need to her back from my admissions officer about something first.

SIR’d to UCSB in March. SOOO excited!

I didn’t have to worry about the 100 $ at UCLA when I submitted my SIR.
