Are there any advantages to submitting my SIR now as opposed to at the end of the month? i know ive heard that there arent and ive heard that there are but aside from having a settled mind, is there anything else?

Nope, other than deciding your fate and not having to stress about where to go for another month, you won't get anything else from SIR-ing early. But as I said in a similar thread, that may be more than worth it =)

good. bc i dont want housing or something to change bc i sent in the SIR later

I have the exact same question too. Although I am pretty sure I am going to Davis, I just don't feel like sending it in now. Maybe it's the feeling of "commitment" that prevents me from accepting the offer.

I think you can make your e-mail address!

The only advantages I can determine by submitting your SIR at an earlier date is you then have additional time to complete the required tasks need to complete your admission. This includes the opportunity to register for the orientation program offered to you on the dates you want to attend.

UCD Admissions Does it follow then that you would have better choice in course/time offerings if you submit it sooner rather than later?

The way registration works submitting your SIR at an earlier date does not give you an advantage in registering for courses.

@UCD ADmissions: Along the same lines, would submitting a SIR "decline" help those who are appealing? If a kid is 99% sure to decline the admission offer, does it help those who are appealing if the kid declines earlier, so the slot is freed up for the one appealing?
In other words if one declines, would one become a good samaritan?

Declining the offer of admissions, although a great thing to do, doesn't help any other applicant out. It just lets us know that you have decided to attend another school and we should contact you about UC Davis any longer.

This might be a little off topic, but I didn't really want to start a new thread for a simple question like this. After I signed my SIR, I couldn't find on my required task page for where to register for orientation. So I asked my friend to give me the link, however when I clicked on "register," it would always redirect me to my main myadmissions page where it gives me my required tasks. I think it's because I applied to STEP, but it isn't certain if I even got into it yet. Am I correct for assuming this? Also, if I don't get into STEP, will I still have enough time to register for orientation?

I am having the same problem as blueyoshi (cool name btw :p) I applied to STEP and the Orientation registration link just redirects me to my myadmissions page.

Yes, they will notify you quite ahead of time whether or not you've gotten into STEP. From there, if you don't get in, you'll have time to register for orientation.

Thanks ^_^

Yeah that's what happened to me. I got into STEP. I couldn't register for orientation until I declined the STEP offer.

If you have been selected to attend STEP you should see registration information for STEP on your list of required tasks on the MyAdmissions site. Furthermore, registering for Orientation will not be an option through the MyAdmissions site.

What happens if i submit my SIR but cannot attend in the fall? What do i do?

You can always withdraw your enrollment. It doesn't matter to them since they get to keep your $100 anyways =P. If you cannot enroll for financial reasons, maybe you can try to petition for PELP which allows you to take a year off from school. Not really sure on how that works, though.

Instead of the PELP programs admitted students can participate in the Deferred Enrollment program. Similar to the PELP program, PELP is for continuing students, the deferred enrollment program allows students to postpone enrollment for one, two or three quarters. This isn't allowed for just anyone; please contact an adviser at 530.752.2971 to discuss you situation and circumstances. Also, you must meet all admissions deadlines as if you are going to attend UC Davis in the fall including SIR and transcripts deadlines.

What is STEP? I dont know what that means?
