Would it be frowned upon to send a SIR to two different schools. I would think so since it is called a "INTENT to REGISTER"

I have a little bit of a different situation though. My choices are between UCLA and USC, and since they are not part of the same organization (ie: UC to UC vs. UC to private) I would be able to submit for both schools just to save my spot right?

ya you could do it, but Usc kind of discourages by having a 300 dollar deposit as apposed to the 100 for uc's. I'm in the same situation as you but have already picked ucla, but I would definately pay the 400 to keep my options open.

Do UCs allow this?? I'm currently waiting to hear whether or not I got rescinded from UCLA, but I find out during the summer AFTER the SIR deadline for other UCs. Would it be okay to send it my SIR for UCI and UCSD along with UCLA?

I just graduated from Cal this month. Two years ago, I submitted 2 SIRs with the other going to UCLA. For about a year after I picked Cal, I was still receiving emails from UCLA asking me to pay tuition or offering me tickets to sporting events. I think I still have a UCLA email address but haven't checked in over a year.

This is my only chance of going to a UC. I'm waiting to see whether or not my app. at UCLA will get rescinded (received a D in my calc 2 class) but I'll find out in summer AFTER the SIR deadline for all schools which is June 1. Should I just go ahead and send in two SIRS just incase I dont get into UCLA then I'll have a backup school. What do you guys think?

Oh, I'm super curious about this! I just sent in my SIR for UCLA two days ago, and I'm having HUGE pangs of regret already! Can I still send in my SIR for Berkeley? Then again, I don't know if I'm going to end up w/ the B average they want.

By the way, ooknyd: Did you attend that UCLA transfer orientation program on Saturday? I was more inclined to Berkeley before attending that, but that orientation sort of skewed me to UCLA.

I said I graduated, didn't I? No, no one ever asked me anything nor did it ever come up. After about a year of emailing me various notifications, UCLA stopped sending me things.

I did go to the thing on Saturday! I was pretty moved by some of those speeches, but after the 'major group session' I ran into someone I knew from H.S. and CC (beyond even that, we have an extremely similar educational path as far as areas of interest). She transferred to UCLA a couple of years ago and is involved with AAP and is having a great experience- but she told me right off the bat to go to UCB :/. Couldn't concentrate the rest of the day.

communist smurf: Ah, just making sure. I'm seeing what I'd get myself into if I did it. :P

ooknyd: Yeah, that orientation really pulled on some heart strings. Actually, the people I was sandwiched between during the presentations both chose UCLA over UCB. I was still very inclined toward Berkeley until I went on the walking tour...I'm from NorCal, so I'm not used to the whole SoCal atmosphere--it felt pretty cool to me.

But I still think I'm going to submit to Berkeley.

UCLA's website says:
"SIR Deposit
The $100.00 deposit is required to hold your place in the entering class and will be applied toward your Registration Fees. The deposit is not refundable if you change your mind and decide not to register."

According to this, we should be able to submit SIR then not to attend the school, do I understand it correctly?

Berkeley's website says:
"If you have been admitted to more than one UC Campus, you may accept only one offer of admission. You must forfeit the $100 SIR fee should you choose to change UC campuses after originally accepting our offer of admission."

Again, according to this, we should be able to submit SIR then not to attend the school, right?
