SIR Deadline: UCB and UCLA ftw?

What happens if you SIR to both Cal and LA? Go Beauins!

i've heard everything from "you get rescinded from both schools" to "you only lose the $100"... I actually need to know myself. Anyone?

officespace, so you haven't turned in your sir? you do realize today is the day.

I also have a question about housing. Are we guaranteed housing if we turn in our SIR on the very last day? I think the deadline to apply for housing is tomorrow

i did, i sir'd to berkeley... but i need a 78 on my discreet math final to not get rescinded

78 is attainable. You would also need a 78 at LA not to get rescinded, right?

What's your major . . .sounds like comp sci.

For Cal its weird since on my account it said you have to do it by June 2nd but on the Cal housing site it said you have until June 6th =/

I think we should make a combinative thread where we can ask and answer each other's questions.

@Awakenzero,
That's why I'm worried. It's probably due on June 6th, because your CalsID won't arrive in your email until two or three days after you turn in your SIR, and you cannot apply for housing unless you have your CalsID.

My counselor told me that they'd take away both. I know that on UCLA's page when you're submitting your SIR, it says submitting an SIR to multiple schools may jeapordize your admission.

as a freshman I SIR'd both UCLA and Cal cause i couldn't decide. ended up choosing UCLA. it wasn't a big deal, i just got a letter in the mail saying "you've SIR'd to 2 UC schools. we want a letter with a written signature stating which you will be attending." that was all.

Go to myberkeleyApplication website and click on your calender. It'll show the exact date of when it's due.

Mine's on June 3rd

i have the same problem. i want to submit my SIR to berkeley and ucla. what will happen?

Out of curiosity. Why would you guys want to SIR to both school? Is it because you haven't decided, yet?

What exactly do students do who get rescinded anyways? Are they supposed to make up the course and then wait around a year and a half until they can apply again for the following fall? If that is the case, I wonder how many students just get discouraged and don't go back or instead choose to go to a state school? The whole process of getting rescinded seems really unfair when you compare one poor grade with 2 or 3 years of stellar academic performance.

i haven't made up my mind yet, because i haven't really gottena chance to visit ucla. i'm still in school, and i'd like to visit before i make my final decision. WILL SUBMITTING TWO SIR'S GET MY ADMISSIONS REVOKED FROM BOTH?

southern: From what I'm hearing, yes. Your admission will be revoked if you send 2 SIRs.

I think that's a bit much to be revoked from sending 2 SIRs. Maybe they'll just do what they did to HLS--you get a letter and you clear it up. Maybe

southerncali...have you visited the Berkeley campus yet? Trust me, you are not going to go to UCLA and decide the campus sucks when you are comparing it to the location of berkeley. lol Even people who don't go to UCLA think it is a beautiful campus. I would not chance it by submitting two SIR's, but the choice is yours.

Yeah the rescinded thing for sending two SIRs sounds a little bit much for what it is.

"YOU CONFUSE US. WE DON'T LIKE YOU ANYMORE GOODBYE"

hulk-smash

yeah i'm really unsure whether or not i should chance it

i woudnt chance it- why put all that work at risk just because you are having
a hard time deciding?

So I sent in my SIR to UCSD, but was recently admitted into UCB. Do I need to alert UCSD about my change or do I just simply accept the UCB SIR? Unsure about the process...
