I have read a few messages here about a deposit for SIR, and that CP charges $100. But when my son did his last week, there was no fee, and there still is no balance for that on his portal account. His acceptance did process, and he registered for housing, which we paid. Has anyone been charged fee for SIR? (We do not qualify for any financial aid)

We did not pay anything for my son’s SIR. I have never seen anything asking for it. He got a letter of acceptance in the mail today and a video e-mail too. We signed up for housing. I think if there was a fee for SIR, we would have been asked to pay it.

I didn’t see a fee, either. I noticed my daughter got an email from Cal Poly and she got the acceptance letter in the mail, as well. She didn’t mention the video, but then if it’s nothing out of the ordinary, she probably wouldn’t. Did you see it, momofmv? What did it say? I’ll have to ask her to forward it to me.

The video was from the President or something. I will forward it to you. It was no biggie, but I just like getting things from SLO!

You don’t pay any tuition & fees (other than housing) until after you enroll in classes (probably August). The Dining Plan is paid separate from housing, and I think is paid in Summer. You will be able to find all the due dates on the Portal under the "housing " tab or “money matters”, and tuition due is visible from the “student center”.
There is no fee associated with a “Student Intent Register.”

Thanks for that information, ralph4. That’s good to know.
