SIRed to UCSB but want UCSD?

Why do you have to live on campus? You could find a room in an apartment full of students easily on Craigslist for much cheaper.

Btw, UCB I believe has the most expensive housing but renting a room in an apartment of students is still affordable. I know people who have studios for $600/month right on the edge of campus and single rooms in bigger apartments for $400-500. I’m sure you could find something just as cheap or cheaper in SD.

Really? That’s awesome. Didn’t know you could have your own room for cheap. I love the village. I think it’s beautiful so that’s why I wanted to live there. I already decline my offer but I really appreciate the help. It’s a hard decision but I made my life easier by declining. Ill have fun in SB!

600 month? Seriously? most craigslists ads are room/apt sharing, I found one studio for ~900.

You’d have to check craigslist, sorry I dont have any links. But I’ve lived in Berkeley for a few years now and have moved around a ton and $600 is definitely doable. Might be hard to find a place near the BART station for that (though I know a girl who had a studio on Shattuck for $600) or on telegraph & Bancroft, but if you’re willing to live a few blocks away a $600 room is pretty normal I think…and if you are willing to live a mile or so away a $400 room is possible. West Oakland has newly renovated apartments that are $300-400/bedroom that are located on bus lines that take you to campus. I almost moved into one because they are so nice.

lol, I was referring to SB.

Well I have no idea then. I was just giving my experience living in Berkeley, which I know is generally more expensive than SoCal.
