SIS question

I'm a first year and I was searching for classes in SIS that I might consider taking. A majority of the classes are not even scheduled yet. This makes choosing classes difficult because I cannot know if I'm interested in a class if I don't the professor, and if I don't know if the class conflicts with other classes.

Does anyone know when most of the classes will be scheduled?

Are some classes that are listed on SIS not going to be available the entire semester?

Will classes be scheduled by the first orientation session (June 22-23)?

Most classes have already been scheduled. However, avoid using the “course catalog” function because it will return all the classes available from years before. Instead, use the “class search” function. However, it is true that instructors are not assigned for a very small portion of classes. Hope this help.

wait so half the classes on “course catalog” don’t even exist anymore?

does the “class search” function list the classes as “course catalog” does?

No, because the “class search” function will only return classes available for the next semester.

ok thanx…

yeah sis has some organization / usability issues, sorry if it got your hopes up about classes that aren’t offered. otoh many classes that don’t appear in the registrar listings are offered every semester.
in semesters past we could browse the COD but sis kind of complicates it. just try searching for classes in fall 09 in specific departments that you’re interested in.

SIS is great for browsing courses you don’t know.

It however is a pain if you already know the course number and you want to get to it ASAP.
