"Left-port; right-starboard. If you can remember that, your careers are assured!" the late President John F. Kennedy told a new class of midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy in 1963.

Dan Ruffin, 18, of Bellbrook, is just finishing his first year as a Midshipman 4th Class (plebe) at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. He knows it takes a lot more direction and rudder control than that to succeed, as his sister Katie, 17, a senior at Bellbrook High School, is sure to find out when she joins him there June 27 as a new plebe....

Not that big a deal...Wonder if the Seattle Times will run a story about me....I might be following Bro and Cousin. Should know within the week...can't wait as scored Cal Tech already and waiting on one other big fish. Then I can make a decision. This has been sooooo long a wait, especially since got USNA early.

You're obviously not Col. & Capt. Ruffin aka Ma n Pa. ;)

My son who is in the "still waiting to hear" group is good friends with this brother and sister and will graduate HS with Katie. Its a small high school with not many kids applying to the academies, so fairly interesting news for our local area. Its a really nice article.

I'm curious how our local paper drew attention of GA in VA? :-)

They are actually the ones who told us about this forum which has been so helpful!
