A HS junior I know is visiting Amherst next week. Last summer, she visited when school was not in session. She only has a short window of the new visit. Should she do another tour, potentially seeing a lot more of campus life since school will be in session or should she sit in on a class? She only has time for one.
I recommend sitting in on a class, if you can. Liberal arts colleges such as Amherst are built upon their personalized discussion-based courses, and listening in on a good discussion is probably the best way to get a feel for the school. As Amherst has a small student population and many students are simply walking from place to place, if she has already seen the buildings and facilities I don’t see why she would need another tour.
Thanks. That’s exactly what I thought.
