site question

is anyone else having trouble logging in with their sn on the wm site?

I was having trouble, but then I called IT and they helped fix it. It only took, like, less than 5 minutes to do.
Oh, make sure you have your student ID on hand... I had to keep them on the line while I riffled around my room for it.

Hope that helps!

hey, thanks! i called and they fixed the problem.

This is a known issue, and a widespread problem. A large percentage of the incoming class is having problems with their initial password as well as the password they change it to. Call IT and they will be able to reset it for you.

Wow, I thought I was the only one, and I'd messed it up.
I'm very happy now; felt like I was a screwup or something.

All right so someone has to look like the idiot and ask it: what can we do if we don't know and can't find this username and password at all? I can't find my letter...I have the folder and everything else inside it EXCEPT the letter, which is apparently the only thing with this information on it...? No? Please let the answer to that be no. lol

Your username should be the first letter of your first name, the first letter of your middle name, and then your last name. John Q. Smith would thus be jqsmith@wm.edu. As far as your password, unless they've changed something from last year, it will be the letter p followed by the last six digits of your social security number: "p000000"

Oh gosh, thanks. I'll try that.

are the 2011 kids getting the new (longer) email addresses?

Hmm didn't work. Guess I'll try to call someone. Hopefully you don't need the number for them to do anything because that would be bad LOL

I guess I assumed that they were. On Banner it said that starting in March or something all new IDs would be in the new format, I thought.

fair enough, generally I visit banner once every few weeks. Did the ED kids not get theirs in the fall then?

That's an interesting point, because I don't believe the new ID format had started by that point, and I think it would strange for some of the students in 2011 to have the old format, and some to have the new format. Can any ED students shed light as to the format of their ID name?
