Sitting in a Whaton Class

I called up undergraduate admissions and asked if they knew anything about visiting Wharton and being able to sit in one of its classes during the summer. I practically got no answer. Can someone help?

You'd probably be much better off asking for a roster of profs who teach summer courses then email or call up a couple and ask for permission directly to sit in on some of their lectures.

yes, i agree. that would be a good way. and if the profs dont reply, you might want to get in contact with a wharton student you know. if he/she is attending summer school, it would not be a problem for you to sit in one of the classes.

but choose the class you attend well because over the summer, many classes, even wharton classes, are taught by TAs. maybe you should try one of the finance classes, they are taught by professors.

would you be able to give me such a roster? Because i searched online and i found this:
<a href="http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/highlights/pdf/class_visitation_schedule.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/highlights/pdf/class_visitation_schedule.pdf</a>
it is only for spring of 2006 and i need the summer schedule.

Also if i do find a roster and i choose to visit a class, how do i tell the difference between a TA and a professor.

I am a senior in high school and i do not know anyone in Wharton.

the link you have seems to be specifically for prospective students. i dont think there would be any such thing for the summer.

the link for finance classes over the summer: <a href="http://finance.wharton.upenn.edu/courses/Syllabi/%5B/url%5D">http://finance.wharton.upenn.edu/courses/Syllabi/</a>
they are all professors.

to distinguish between a professor and TA, look up on the wharton faculty directory on the wharton website. if the instructor's name does not appear, it would be a good bet that he is either a TA or a visiting professor from another university.

this link might be helpful
<a href="http://finance.wharton.upenn.edu/courses/Rosters/#summer06ugrad%5B/url%5D">http://finance.wharton.upenn.edu/courses/Rosters/#summer06ugrad</a></p>

thanks for that link. I found one class that i am able to visit and it is this class:
Session 2 6/26/06 - 8/4/06
FNCE 206 920 Financial Derivatives Elul

By any chance do you know what days of the week i am able to visit that class? What room that class is held in and at what time? Thanks for all the imput!

the link above answers the question about the room and time. But would anyone know where i can find out when i can visit that class? (I am still referring to the same class)

should i email the professor who teaches that class and ask if i am able to visit his class?

yes you should

how would you phrase such an email?

Dear Prof Blah

My name is Joe Schmoe and I am a prospective applicant to wharton next year. In order for me to truly gauge whether wharton is the right college for me, I would like to sit in on one of your classes. Would that be possible?

Thank you very much,
Joe

You might also want to list possible dates

is it too late to email him now?

and as in late i mean time wise

no, it's fine. I've emailed profs at 2am before, so it should be fine, just don't expect a reply within 20min

lol i understand that part. Thanks for your help!

you're welcome

is this acceptable as an email?

Dear Professor Elul,

My name is and I am a prospective applicant to Wharton next year. In order for me to truly gauge whether Wharton is the right college for me, I would like to sit in on one of your classes. Would that be possible? I understand that I am contacting you near the end of your classes. If it is at all possibile for me to sit in one of your classes, is it possible for that date to be between July 31st and August 4th.

Thank you very much,

Try cutting down on the number of possibles and it should be fine. Oh, and be sure to ask if he has time for a little chat afterwards or beforehand.

ok how about this then
