Sitting in bookstores

Rather than buy the 4 or so AP/SAT II books I need for this coming may, could I just go to bookstores like Borders and take the tests THERE on a separate peice of paper and go home after, without the book, saving around 80 dollars? Seems like a good plan...

I don't see why not, if you've got access to a bookstore. Nobody would, uh, notice, would they?

Noo the bookstores are hugeeee and I know other people that do the same thing. Besides the bookstore is across the street from my house.

One option:

Buy the book, take the test, and then say you're unsatisfied and return it for a full refund? ;)

For having a bookstore right across the street, u = lucky.

Or buy the book, write all over it, return it and say 'THIS BOOK IS ALL SCRIBBLED OVER!!1"

Haha, no, don't do that. You are verry lucky to live across the street from a huge bookstore...well, it might be loud because of the traffic, but still.

some bookstores, like b&n have a 30 day return policy. just make sure you don't opent he cd-roms and return the thing exactly the way you bought it.

You might want to be careful with teh return policies. They take down your ID information every time you return. When I returned a book for the 3rd time, they kinda looked at me in a suspicious way. I could have been a little paranoid but you still should be careful.

i did that with psat. the bookstore employees sorta glared at me but didn't say anything. the only time they actually had a complaint was when my and i were sitting on the ground reading... they just told us to get up.

does it have a coffee shop? you can spend 4 hours drinking a cup of coffee there while reading the book.

Hey I should try that.

borders usually won't bother you if you raid their test prep section. i know i'd just get distracted and wander off to look at picture books though. :(

people sleep in my barnes and noble.. and take up all the chairs. its annoying. i think next time i go i will bring a sharpee to draw on all the people who thinks a bookstore is a good place to sleep.

Haha...Borders has a good defense against you just sitting in the test prep section: in the stores I've been to, the test prep section is always facing the graphic novels/manga section! Most of the kids who sit at the table or on the ground there are reading comic books. I'm sure many of them came to prepare for tests but could not help but wander away.

lol, dualityim, that is so true. haha

I've done it at barnes and noble a ton of times and i am not ashamed

The Barnes and Noble I go to doesn't care when I do it.

I do it at my local Borders. No biggie. Just don't mark inside the books.

They don't mind.

LMAO Zoogies. :] I'm going to try that out in the summer. xD Hahaha.

they must make quite a bit of money not to care. Or maybe the employees dont get paid much and dont care
