Hey, at risk of sounding like I moron, let me just say that I felt that this forum is the best place to ask this type of question.

I am in high school right now and am looking into careers in finance/business. I am trying to find jobs where my salary will be in the low six figure range. I am looking at becoming an accountant and did a summer internship last year, just to pad my college app. But yeah, I'm looking into doing that but I was curious as to whether there are higher paying careers out there that I am overlooking.

I think Investment Banking is out of the equation for me...Anything else? That does require an MBA from Columbia...?

Thoughts?

I'm good with computers, I am decent at writing code...

Consultants get paid in the range of 60-80k. Paid hotel/meals. You'll rack up the starwood points for stays at W Hotels. ROFLS. But yeah, consultants get paid well, especially in the technology fields.

Accounting is definitely a good field to be in. Regulations are going to get stricter unless someone devises and implements an easy tax system.

For someone with your skill set(abilities), i'd recommend technology consulting and majoring in comp sci.

management consulting
cpa (after many years)
any medical doctor
lawyer
engineer (after many years)

I did data entry for a utility company and input all the new salaries (after promotions and stuff, you know.) Holy cow, linesmen and electricians have it made. I think a lot of people tend to ignore or look down on "trades" . . . Definitely a mistake, especially since there will always, always, always be a need for electricians and plumbers, even in the crappiest economy.

i think it depends when you want to reach six figures....reaching 6 figures at 25 is definitely different than reaching 6 figures at 40
