Hey, I'm attending UCSD for the fall 2009 quarter at sixth college. I just have a question about the odds of getting a single (non-residence hall) dorm.

Freshmen, as far as I know were able to sign their housing contract starting May 28th, I signed mine and payed for it on the 29th. Does submitting it earlier help in getting my desired arrangement? I want to live in a single dorm, and in order to do that, I have to also live in the apartments and not the residence halls. I was able to indicate this in the actual contract.

But in short, what are the chances that a freshmen can get into a single-dorm, let alone into the apartments at sixth?

Thanks

I heard it doesn’t matter when you turn in your housing contract. It goes by when you turned in your housing application. At least for freshman year.

I filed in the actual application a while ago (April 3rd). Regardless though, what are the chances of a freshman getting a single dorm in the apartments?

I think that’s pretty late. There was a thread right after decisions came out to fill out the applications so a lot of people did it then.

The odds will be slim but I doubt anyone can tell you your exact chances because we don’t know the exact number of singles in Sixth or the number of people moved to the apartments.

April 3rd… being honest is kind of a late date to submit your app!

Oh, I found out I didn’t submit it April 3rd, the April 3rd thing was part of an e-mail talking about Admit day being the next day (April 4th) and they said they have already received my housing app sometime before, I’m pretty sure I submitted it around late March.

Edit: Regardless, if I don’t the single dorm, will they try for a double dorm placement after? Or will it be random between the double or triple?
