Sixth college dorm

I visited the dorm on admit day, and i didnt really like it and i've heard people saying that it's one of the worst dorms in UCSD.
Can someone give me a list of pros and cons?

There is a great deal of difference between the colleges as far as REQUIREMENTS for graduation; and they don’t make these differences obvious. One requires two quarters of foreign languange, one requires US History, One keeps the Art department solvent… three or so do not recognize Jr. transfer 'IGETC rules, or, have written their own. The ‘guide’ to this in the Catalog is worthless. Also, once comitted, you really cant transfer to another College.

Pro’s - more homely feel, very easy to meet people due to the layout of the dorms, very close to price center/geisel/center of campus, sixth is in general a social area with a nice courtyard, there is a CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL in sixth in a few weeks… enough said…

Con’s - some of the oldest dorms on campus (but they HAVE been renovated), lots and lots of triples, share a bathroom with more people than usual (although this really isn’t that big of a deal), you have to walk uphill to get to West campus, which is where most of the science buildings are (you will likely take at least one class in York) and Revelle, Muir, Marshall, and ERC.

Sixth is a social area?

A lot of people that, but it’s simply not true. Remember those events we have periodically (the dances, socials, etc.)? Yeah, the people that “attended” consisted of the hosts and the volunteers. Remember that concert thing on Friday? Not too many people showed up either.

Anyway, to add on to the cons:

 • Foodworks is far.
 • Renovated but as shabby as ever - a lot of money that was supposed to go to our reshalls went to build ERC’s new apartments. It’s clear that they didn’t spend time fixing up sixth reshalls. On our signboard thing, you can see “ERC COLLEGE” slightly faded out and the words “SIXTH” plastered over it.
 • Bathroom with more people than usual is kind of an understatement. Our restrooms are shared by over double the amount of people in comparison to Warren.

Pros:

 • You only have to survive through it for one year.

I donno, I hear sixth is social compared to some of the other colleges. sorry if I am misrepresenting that.
