Oh god i just realized that the sixth college (to which I found out I was admitted earlier today) was opened in like 2002 and that it has horrible housing.
MAN the sixth college sucks doesn’t it? And revelle is the best right? =(

yeah basically lol.....

depends on your personality, goals, and a little on your major.

Revelle doesn't appeal to me, for example.

(...but yes I've heard a little grouching about sixth college housing. Don't let it bother you tho ;))

You gotta live in Camp Snoopy (oldest building on campus).

wow i probably screwed myself over.

im pre-med bioengineer in 6th college... is this good?

try to switch out??? yah i heard 6th college does suck

6th college is good for their comp sci, but other than that it wouldn't have been a good choice in any other major.

All the other colleges are respectable and are ranked about the same, although revelle has the most difficult of course requirements of all the rest.

i got in as computer engineering.. is that ok for sixth college?
i really dont care about dorm situation.. i know ill be living in library or some other places to study.. -_- dorm is only for sleep

o god i should have applied to revelle as #1

this is so retarded the only reason i ranked sixth college as #1 is because the website looked cool.

well, i guess it doesnt really matter anyhow. I got into UCLA (which is my second choice) and im going to hear back from berkeley on the 31st which im totally gonna go to if i get in. who cares about UCSD =P

lol mrlemongo i'm in the same boat you are....i picked sixth college only cuz i thought it was funny how it was so unoriginal......oh well i'm only going if i get into their honors med scholars program....

I am currently a 6th College first year and I will confirm the unflattering impression about the college and UCSD.

I will limit myself to commenting about 6th college and the college system in general.

Admits error when they view the colleges as autonomous and distinct entities.

"i got in as computer engineering.. is that ok for sixth college?" I can't answer this question because there is no relation between the major and the college!

The college you are placed in determines not much more than your residential area. Each college teaches a few classes for your writing requirement but all other instruction is organized by the university. It is meaningless to consider the quality of education and recognition between colleges because there are none! It's all just a residential hall system garnished with a collegial designation.

So what are the differences between colleges?

The colleges are positioned at different parts of the campus. I would describe the locations of Sixth and Warren residences as isolated from the rest of the campus and I would regard Muir's location as superior.

The widest and principal differences between the colleges is based on the level of encombrance the general education requirements impose.

Muir: Lightest, Sixth: Avg, and Revelle: Wretched! (Stay away!!!)

Congrats mrlemongo you don't have to come here.

Zik,

It's named 6th college because there is no name. However it appears the leadership will soon name the college after Atkinson, some UC bureaucrat of days past. The Sixth College honors program involves an invitation to a weekly seminar with all the other honors students. I chose not to participate - what could I possibly be missing. The status affords you no other benefits. If you are a UCLA admit - GO THERE!!

yes, 6th college does suck

MUIR Kicks A5s!! it's the most social and the college tries very hard to get the students involved through activities and social events.

unhappy6THandUCSDstudent - wow, do you really regret going to ucsd?

Dreams,

Absolutely.

could you elaborate a bit more on why 6th (and UCSD in general) sucks?

because i was accepted to 6th, and i thought it was alright. though now posts like these are starting to scare me.

unhappy6THandUCSDstudent - what do you hate so much about ucsd? I am considering going there, but...

unhappy:

that guy named 'Atkinson' was the former Pres of the UC system who pused for the new SAT!

lol im thinking about taking the new SAT for fun

but then again it is 40 bucks

but then again again standardized tests are fun and i can see what the class of 06 has to go through =P
