:)
Is 209 square feet a decent size for a double? Just saw the floorplans for my Southgate floor...

Anyway, share your room size if you know it!

It’s not too bad.

If I remember correctly I had a pretty big single that was around 140 and a HUGE double around 320. 209 is probably not what I would classify as huge, but it’s a decent size in terms of typical dorm rooms.

209 isn’t that bad actually, my double in Edens on west sophomore year was around 170 I believe.

209 is really generous for a dorm at duke. Most doubles are around 170-180 sqft.

where did you find floor plans? i’ve been searching for the floor plans to alspaugh for a while now but can’t find them!

Yeah, I would also really like to know where you guys found floor plans. Could anyone please post the floor plans for Gilbert-Addoms? Could anyone give a rough estimate of the average size of a single in East Campus, what about a single in Gilbert-Addoms?

^ Another guy from the facebook group for Southgate found them for me lol. He posted them to the group :D

I think RLHS takes those down after roompix is over. I couldn’t find them when I was looking this summer but they were definitely up earlier this spring.

Edit: nvm, it looks like RLHS posts floorplans for west/central campuses. I guess I wasn’t looking hard enough :-/

but if you go to their website, you can see pictures of dorms on east

^ You Sir, deserve 1000 internets.

Thanks a ton!

OK - so where do you find the floor plans for Few? My D would like to see her floor plan and does not know where to find it! Thanks!

hmmm
maybe you’d have to vpn.

Well here’s how you get there.

From the rlhs website: rlhs.studentaffairs.duke.edu click on room picks 2009 on the left hand side, the floorplans are on the right side of that page after login.

D was finally able to access the plans for floors 2 through 5. Boy, some of those floor plans don’t even look like they can fit the 6 foot bed frames and then some doubles have walk in closets about 3/4 the size of some of the singles.

Yes, due to the weird geometry of some of the west campus quads, wackiness can result.

For anyone in Pegram, this link is a PDF of the floorplan:

pegram-all

You can see how the rooms are various sizes and plans, I think Jarvis, Brown, Alspaugh, etc. are similar. Personally, I’ve got a relatively small room (~170 square feet) very near to the common room. There’s gonna be so many distractions…

For the frosh;

Randolph and Blackwell = smallest on campus, smaller than than NC prison cell, so they say
GA and Southgate = huge (in comparison)
Other east dorms = about the same size basically, finding out the sq ft won’t change a thing. I think there are some suites in Wilson.
