I have been accepted to Brandeis for the class of 2020, and it’s one of the schools I’m strongly considering. But one of my main issues with the school is its size. There are about 3,600 undergrad students at Brandeis, and the campus isn’t that large. I went to spend the day, and I was able to make my way from one side of campus to the other in less than ten minutes, and without getting lost. I’m kind of concerned that if I was able to find my way so quickly in one day, will the campus feel extremely small after spending years there? On the other hand, the intimate atmosphere felt very warm and inviting. The students seem very nice, which is always a plus.
If anyone who goes to Brandeis or knows people there can comment with their experience, I’d love to hear it.
That’s a odd observation. The Brandeis campus is somewhat “compact” but not overly so. When I went there decades ago, the campus was even smaller. I can’t recall it ever being an issue for me or anybody else. Frankly, I think the very large, spread-out campuses get tiring after awhile. The entire physical campus of any school usually fades into the background after a few months anyway. Focus on the student body, faculty and curriculum and make your decision on that basis.
I was thinking the same as @soze …and on a cold winter day, with a foot of snow and blustery winds, the walk across campus will seem plenty long, I promise! (Says someone who attended Brandeis in the 80s)
