I was looking at the MATH 1110 classes and I noticed they they only have 21 seats. Is that the normal size of the Calculus 1 classes? That seems really small.

I mean, that is awesome if/when I can ever get in one but I thought general classes like that would be much larger.

Yes, the MATH 1110 classes are usually around that size to the best of my knowledge.
(when I took it last fall, 20 out of 24 seats were taken)

They’re probably small because there are ~20 sections for Calc 1, compared to the one stats lecture (if you’re taking about MATH 1710)…although there were three lecture times with ~25 seats each when I took it last semester. I suppose the stats room is larger this time.

By the way, if you do take Calc 1, I would recommend the MoWeFr sections over the TuTh ones. Much easier to stomach three 50 min lectures than two 75 min ones, at least from my experience.

Well…I thought so too when I signed up for TuTh sections, but it turned out that sometimes all the material for particular days couldn’t be covered in time, and had to be rushed before prelims and stuff like that. It was just difficult for the TA to cover exactly 1.5 times the material for one class for another, I guess. I hope that made sense.
Even the TA herself admitted that the MWF sections were better off pacing-wise, and that she was generally more focused for them.

However, if you can stay focused for more than an hour on calc (unlike me), TuTh may be just fine for you of course.

well right now there are no sections available so unless I can add the class during add/drop I will probably have to take it next semester. Just really wanted to take it and be done with it forever.
