actually, USC’s BA program isn’t by audition… it’s just an interview, no actual performance. I have 3 friends in that program going next year

On USC’s application you can put down a first and second choice for your major. 99% of the kids auditioning put down the BFA as their first choice. During the interview they are asked about taking a slot in the BA program if that is what is offered to them. My daughter has quite a few friends who did that because that allows them the opportunity to pursue paths in directing, writing, etc or to Minor or Double Major. She believes there are about 100 in the BA program, including the Spring Admits - alot of those auditioned, but not all.

Hello,

15 is the highest. We aim for between 12 and 15 at The Hartt School, University of Hartford.

Does anyone know anything about how hard it is to get into TCUs BFA program? I see where someone wrote 20/10 (does that mean 20 audition and 10 get accepted?) Does anyone know how many have been accepted for upcoming year (class of 2013)? Anything at all about TCU theatre program would be helpful and much appreciated!

My guess is that it means that 20 are accepted to yield 10 that enter the program. Pretty much all audition schools should be considered hard to get into, although I don’t have any specific knowledge about TCU or the number of students who audition for the program.

i was under the impression that fordham didn’t cut. is this wrong???

Its not a cut, it is just that some schools accept more than what they ideally would like for a final number because they know from experience that some of their selected students will choose other schools. Other schools will accept their number and maintain a waiting list if they lose candidates to other programs.

What kind of weight do you think this list holds:

[Actingbiz - Top US Undergraduate Acting Programs](http://www.actingbiz.com/articles/undergraduate_programs.php)

Also everyone here knows that that Juilliard (even though it is a BFA program) almost acts like a graduate program in the sense that it’s more like a vocational school in the vain of The Curtis Institute then a BFA program. However I’ve heard that the University of Evansville believe it or not is the finest BFA program in the nation and just as hard if not harder to get into than The Juilliard School’s Drama Division. I’d imagine after Rebecca Guy (former U. of Evansville and Juilliard) took over the advanced acting scene study class at Juilliard, U. of Evansville has become even more selective…10 men and 6 women!!! ***?!

PS: …not to mention that in almost every recent Juilliard graduating class there is at least one former University of Evansville acting student…food for thought.

Anyway do you think a BFA in Screen Acting from Chapman U. holds any weight? Also is SUNY-Purchase’s Acting Department really as tough as they say it is? Auditioning every year to stay in?? THANKS!

Does anyone know the stats for Marymount Manhattan College?

Evansville seems to be particularly well-known for its success in placing its graduates into top notch MFA programs – however, mixed reviews preparing graduates for more immediate entry into the profession. There are some posts on this elsewhere you should search for . . . I have no first hand knowledge, other than my D did visit and apply – liked what she saw/heard alot, but didn’t get accepted into the program. After the fact, she read more about their approach being more geared to preparing for graduate training vs as a terminal professional degree.
