SIZE OF INTRO CLASSES

In your freshman year, how large are the lecture hall classes for intro to calculus, physics, chemistry, biology, etc?
How many students typically in these classes…one semester, 2 or all the way through sophomore year.
Thanks very much.

Freshman year you can expect some large sections for chemistry and biology (about 100-150 people), chemistry does have an extra smaller 30 person recitation. Also lab sections for both courses are smaller. For first year writing and calculus there’s a 19 people cap per section, so those will be smaller. Other classes like economics and psychology have different section with different sizes, for instance one section might have 50 people and another 120.
Most people who take bio and chem move on to chem 2 and bio 2 next semester. Sophomore year you’ll still have some large classes, but mid-size classes will be more common, and from they just get smaller.
