size of the CP Scholar intro classes

Son is still trying to make a decision. He does not like huge classes that are common in some State U. Rumor has it that school like Rutgers may have 400 students in intro lectures. Anyone can comment on the size of the CP Scholar intro classes for bio, chem, english, etc. - the core classes. Are they the same classes offer for the rest of the student body or does the scholars have separate lectures?

I’m quite interested to hear about this as well - not a college park scholar, but it’s still a consideration for me.

scholars don’t have separate classes for the CORE classes. D had AP credit that probably got her out of some of the biggest classes. She’s had some classes that have about 100 people…the discussion sections that meet once a week with a TA are usually very helpful when reviewing some of the difficult concepts that are first presented in the lecture class. Lab classes for the sciences are small, as well. You can get a general idea of the number of people in the kinds of classes your son would take, by looking at Testudo and going into the course offerings for Fall, 2009. You can look up any class, and see the total number of seats offered for each section. Hope this helps!

astrophysicsmom,
Thank you. You’ve been a great help answering all the questions I’ve posted here. My son is down to W&M and UMDCP. Only a couple of days left and whatever decision he makes, I am happy that it is over!!
