Anyone who goes to Rutgers: does the size of the school bother you? I am worried about it being just TOO big for me, but does that really matter once you are there?

Our son does not think it matters.
He is immersed in Mason Gross School of the Arts....and has little to do day to day with rest of the huge university.
That said, he HAS enjoyed the recent football success and a few other BIG school events.
We've been pleasantly surprised by the attention and responsiveness of the main offices of financial aid, housing etc.

I was very reluctant to come to Rutgers because I was absolutely sure that I wanted to go to a small school (or at least smaller than Rutgers), but having finished my first year there, I think I like that it's big. Granted, it would be nice if some of the classes were smaller, but it's nice to have so much going on all the time as far as events and what not and because it's larger, there are also a ton of opportunities. After talking to some of my friends who go to small schools, I've realized that I don't think I'd be able to deal with everyone being in everyone's business and there being class drama and what not. I appreciate seeing new people and being able to get away sometimes. As far as receiving attention from deans and the like, I haven't had an issue, but I'm also a Douglass student so since Douglass College is smaller, I might also get a little more attention.

Ah that's good to hear. What are you majoring in, if you don't mind me asking? All the different campuses really confuse me right now, does that get better? I think I will definitely apply there. Thanks for the input!

Ha ha, the different campuses do become less confusing (though I must say I still don't know my way around Busch since I haven't had class there).

I'm planning on applying to the business school though I'm not sure which major within the school I want do.

Oh, and if you like sports at all, being at Rutgers is great. I love the Rutgers spirit and pride at games.

I've been here for 2 years now and at times I envy my friends who are at smaller schools. One on one time with professors and smaller classes seem like something I would like at this point. Coming out of high school I applied to strictly large schools(all publics, UC's, Penn State, Rutgers) because that's what I thought I wanted. Now(more mature perhaps) I can see how I would've benefited from a smaller school. When I visit friends at smaller school that atmosphere always seems friendlier and more inviting. Oh well.
