How big is syracuse? Do you have to take a bus to get to all of your classes, or can you walk? I would really appreciate it if you guys could fill me in on the geographical size of SU. thanks

You’ll be able to walk everywhere, although you may not want to in the winter.

I’m an '84 SU grad, and my son is deciding on SU or other institutions for himself. I found SU easy to walk to all classes. As raychacha mentioned, the winter is harsh. SU has snow almost daily from Dec - Mar (felt that way), and there’s a lot of gray days as well. To me, the weather was a non-issue since I grew up in New England anyway, and love winter.

First 2 years were in Saddler dorm, near the dome. Last 2 years at Skytop, which is south campus (bus, or car - 10 minutes to campus, or bike maybe 15 minutes). The campus is hilly, so most dorms you’ll have a hike to the main quad where a majority of the buildings reside (all flat). The dorm that seemed to have the most elevation in the walk to the quad is Brewster(guys/Bowlen(girls) towers. Massive set of stairs that go on forever.

thanks! is it really as rainy and grey as everyone says? or just cold

Both. But if you’re from New England, it’s not a huge delta.

One plus on the snow - less of the crappy 35 degree rain. 28 and snowing is much nicer. No driving, so no big deal - walk through snow.
