i'm planning on transferring to sjsu to major in animation. but i heard that you have to pass a portfolio test first. i read about that on their website and it seems mostly directed towards students who are staying there all 4 years. my community college offers only 2 of the art classes with their second level counterparts, which are optional. i've already taken 1 of them and plan on taking the other next semester but i have no room on my schedule for the level 2 classes because i have other GE classes to take plus other classes to transfer to my backup school. what are the chances of a transfer like me passing the portfolio test compared to someone who's already been there for 2 years and taken the other classes? there's also a 3.2 gpa requirement and my average gpa is 3.6 so would that help me a little? i plan on transferring in fall 2015. also, i live about 1 1/2 hours from sjsu so would local residents have a better chance than me?
