thanks
Thanks! Found it. Also says: “Program: UGD-Undergraduate Degree”.
Applied for Mechanical Engineering, supposedly “admitted to the major you chose”
CSU GPA: 4.33 (taken from CSU application)
San Francisco resident, probably not considered local by SJSU
Before COVID-19, SJSU had a frosh live on campus requirement for those from more than 30 miles away and not non-traditional students. That has been suspended through 2022-2023, but you may want to ask if it will be required for 2023-2024 if you student prefers to commute from more than 30 miles away.
Huh, I didn’t know that - that’s good to be aware of. Forced dorming would definitely be a deal-breaker (unless of course they wanted to fully cover the cost and she just used it as a crash pad).
Impaction | Admissions says that local for frosh means from a high school in Santa Clara County.
Got accepted!
Applied for data science. They just said admitted to the major you selected on your application, but I went with undeclared as my alternate major choice.
CSU Capped Weighted GPA: 3.95
Non-local CA resident, Central Coast
Got accepted
Data Science
CSU GPA 4.08
In-state, non local
And I believe that if got accepted on first major the message would say
“Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the major you selected on your application to San José State University for the Fall 2023 term.”
if accepted on second major it would say
“Congratulations! I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the alternate major you selected on your application to San José State University for the Fall 2023 term.”
instead
@gumbymom
sjsu results came early this year or its early acceptances?
may be slo comes soon too
thanks
accepted data science!
My son got accepted yesterday, majoring at engineering technology/computer system network management. Not quite familiar with this major, Any insights?
SJSU decisions are rolling and they usually come out Early-Mid February and will continue through March.
SLO’s decisions are also rolling. Here was the 2022 timeline:
Cal Poly SLO admit wave started on March 10, 2022 with a mixture of OOS and In-state applicants. Waitlist decisions posted March 18, 2022 along with a few acceptances. Admits for students requiring a portfolio review trickled out on March 24, 2022. Denials were posted on March 30, 2022.
S23
Admitted for CS
4.0/4.6/1540
CA, Bay Area not local.
SJSU results usually come sooner than many other colleges, since there is no subjective evaluation involved – just calculating GPAs and bonus points, then admitting in rank order to get the desired number of admits for each major (taking into account yield predictions).
The thresholds are now posted on SJSU’s web site, so anyone who has not been notified can calculate their admission index and compare with the posted threshold for their major.
Friend’s daughter’s portal still said “undecided” in the application status. She should have made the Impaction factor cutoff for her major. The family is quite interested in SJSU for the good value. I assume more decisions will be sent out until end of March?
Deny/Not Redirected
Computer Science (alt Industrial Engineering)
4.08 CSU 27 years
OOS
Definition of Deny/Not Redirection: Due to enrollment restrictions and space availability, the Non-Resident or International applicant has been withdrawn due to not meeting impaction.
Definition of Deny/Eligible for Redirection: Due to enrollment restrictions and space availability, the application has been withdrawn and may be eligible for redirection if the applicant was not admitted to any California State University for the given term. Non Residents of California and International applicants are not eligible for redirection.
Sounds like alternate major not considered for non-residents
Did you state an alternative major?
yes, Industrial engineering. updated my post
Alternate majors are only considered when there is NO additional capacity in the major. According to the Freshman impaction index, Industrial Engineering “did not have the enrollment capacity to accommodate alternate majors.”
See the ^ next to the major on the Impaction list.
Industrial & Systems Engineering*^
Doesn’t that make it sound like alternate majors are not considered for OOS ?
“Redirection” means being redirected to another CSU, not an alternate major. Redirection | CSU
