SJSU Undeclared Major- What to do now?

Sorry, I'm new here, so I will try to illustrate my silly questions as clearly as possible.

"In accordance with SJSU's status as an impacted campus, you were admitted as an Undeclared major because you did not meet the impaction threshold to the major you chose on your application."

I got that message when the provisional SJSU acceptance message came. I applied for the Animation/illustration department of San Jose. My overall GPA up until junior year is around 3.1, just barely below the 3.20 impaction threshold for the program. So here are a couple of questions that I really have to ask:

Will they count the grades from first semester of senior year? I have a 3.30 unweighted in total GPA (3.23 unweighted in academic GPA. Not too sure on which GPA colleges tend to look at).

If they do, will that be enough for me to get into the animation program? I know that acceptance into this particular program has been quite shaky at SJSU, but if they do count the senior year will I clear the impaction threshold?

If they don't, how do I declare animation as my major when I go to SJSU?

I know a lot of these questions probably sound very silly, but it would be great if someone could help me.

If you look at the message, it should tell you can apply to change your major after the 1st semester. They do not count senior grades for Eligibility index, so you will have accept, attend and then apply for a major change. My son just declined their admission since he was not accepted into Computer Science. He is not willing to take a chance and not get into his major. Good Luck

Ah, that’s a shame. I hope your son got into a Computer Science program at another great school. I’ll attend SJSU and see if I can get into the program. Thank you for your help!

@Chubbybird: Yes he has been accepted at UCR, CSUF, CPP, CSULB, SDSU. Waiting for SLO and a few UC’s. He does have a lot of good choices.

@Chubbybird did you get into that program?
