SJSU V.S UCMerced [Electrical engineering/computer science]

Hello, my name is John and i can't seem to decide between the two schools for engineering. Please tell me your opinion and why you like so and so school better.

San Jose State University - Electrical Engineering
University of California of Merced - Computer science and engineering

I am interested in both major equally what I want to know is which university will provide the better quality of the following,

Learning environment

Professor

Internship/ job opportunities

Higher chance (if doing equally well) of getting into a better graduate school

Cost of Attendence,

a. SJSU- 20k/4years (commute) [2.5k a semester] x8

b. UofMerced- 50k/4 years (board)
([Total cost (33452)] - [Financial Aid/Work Study (7,879+2500) ] )x4 = 50660

Thank you very much for any possible input.
John

FYI, the cost of attendance will not be factored into my consideration to attend whichever school. I want to go the school that will provides a better education! :)

Have you visited either school? San Jose is nearer to high tech, but Merced has some growing opportunities. If cost isn’t an issue, what does your gut tell you?

I would guess:

3 SJSU, as it is more pre-professionally oriented (as a CSU) and is in Silicon Valley

4 (if you mean PhD program in EE or CS) probably UC Merced for undergraduate research opportunities as it is a research university

Hello, thank you guys for replying!
@ucbalumnus Regarding to #4, i’m planning to attend a graduate school for a Master Degree.
If anyone else can tell me more information regarding either school’s engineering program (even better if you have attended or is currently attending! Thanks :)

Both are mid-level institutions. SJSU is very crowded, but has an established EE program.

SJSU has the edge. Merced is a very new campus and is not yet that well-established for teaching.

SJSU is right in the middle of Silicon Valley where internships are in abundance.

Merced, as ucbalum said.
