Son admitted to SJSU and UC Davis for Electrical Engineering, need to select one of them.
Any suggestions/feedback regrading joining one school over other ?
Thanks!

I guess I’m a little biased because our daughter attended Davis and she absolutely loved it.
The students are very happy there; it’s a collaborative environment that is encouraged-to work in teams, to help each other. They have nightly free tutoring in each of the dorm buildings. They want their students to succeed, and the students do well.
Yes, it’s more expensive than San Jose, and yes it’s smack dab in the middle of farmland, but the students work together well. The Davis smalltown environment is charming. What you need to do is visit each school. Your child will know which school fits.
Another parent with a UCD graduate. When my son was comparing his top school options he considered the following:
Either school will give your son a good education but where would he like to spend the next 4 years? SJSU was too much of a commuter school in comparison to UCD so it was not even in the running.
Thanks for your feedback! Yes we are planning to visit both campuses. Both campuses are almost at same distances from home (+/- 20 miles).
Thanks for your feedback and inputs. Both schools are almost similar distance from home (less than 70 miles from home). For SJSU, I am not sure about housing/dining options.
Another Davis parent here.
Would your student live at school either way? SJSU has more of commuter feel. Davis is more of a college community.
Tuition at SJSU is cheaper but housing is probably more expensive.
Davis is opening a new Engineering Design Center in the next couple of months.
Yes plan is to live at campus either way (commute will be very stressful for both )
Thanks for info regarding new Engineering Design Center opening at UC Davis!
Another healthy plus for Davis, the whole town is a biking community. Students, professors, and staff generally bike to the campus. It’s a physically huge campus! I think it helps to reduce stress levels, and everyone’s on their bikes and people help each other out.
It’s a green campus with water stations throughout the campus. They’re trying to reduce the use of plastic bottles so you have your own containers to help reduce waste.
Thats great! Yes campus life looks very nice in UC Davis!
