Hi! I just got off the UC riverside waitlist and am now deciding between San Jose State University and UC Riverside. At SJSU, I would be majoring in business admin and at UC riverside i would majoring in business. SJSU is close to home and in the silicon valley but riverside is giving me $18,000 in grant money. Which one should i choose?
Are you a transfer or a freshman applicant? If you are a Freshman, you are placed in Pre-Business and must take the screening courses before declaring the Business Administration major.

Also what are your actual costs for JSU vs UCR?
UCR’s website states $36K/year -$18K which still leaves approximately $18K/year to pay.
@Gumbymom I am a freshman applicant, and it would be $18k for UCR and 25K for SJSU
Any grant money at SJSU at all? If not, then I would go to UC Riverside. They are nationally ranked #78 in Business Administration (2018 US News), and #89 (Anderson MBA–2019 US News)…one of the most popular majors at Riverside. Only other 2 UC’s besides UCR that have it are Berkeley and Irvine. I graduated from UCR in Business Administration way back in the day…received a great education and college experience.
I agree that UCR looks like the better option financially and academically.
Yes, UCR looks like the better financial and academic option. Plus, you have to defy the odds to finish SJSU in four years - the 4-year grad rate is only 11 percent! (57% graduate by the end of six years) At UCR, 53% graduate in four years and 73% by the end of six years.) That’s a really big difference. Not only is your cost per year lower at UCR, but your risk of having to pay for additional semesters is lower. Riverside seems like the wise choice all around.
@Fisherman99 @Gumbymom @aquapt thank you so much for the help and the advice!! Ill commit this evening!
