Skateboard/Surfing/Snowboarding all in one?

Where in the US is it possible to skateboard/surf/snowboard? Like surf during summer, snowboard during winter. (I'm not really sure if this is possible)

You could probably pull it off with some travelling within nc or va.

A lot of places in California are fairly close to the ocean and mountains.

It’s also possible in Hawaii: http://www.bestplaceshawaii.com/island_insights/bigisland/skiing.html

In the Pasadena to Pomona region, you could theoretically skate Friday afternoon, ski Saturday, and surf Sunday (or all in one day if you really wanted to). Surfing (Pacific ocean) is probably two hours away (?). Skiing is one hour away about. And skating you could do after classes. I don’t know how warm the Pacific gets in the LA region in the winter, though…

Thanks for the responses! Just a note, I’d like that region to have schools good in Chem…I have pretty good stats, probably not by CC means. about 4.1-4.2W gpa, 3.8-3.9UW gpa, 2000-2200 SAT.

About how much traveling in NC and VA?

Eh I don’t really wanna go to Hawaii…as nice as it sounds, the schools there aren’t that great

Sounds great. I’m looking at a few schools in SoCal, this makes me want to go there even more :)

University of Washington
snowboarding is about one hour a way
skateboarding year round
Surfing in the summer on the coast, some surf year round with dry suits.

think there is a UW student on this board called wakeskatesnowboard or something close…

um…do you know how long it takes to get from Seattle to the coast? A LONG ASS TIME.

My suggestion would be the claremont schools, few minutes from the mountains, an hour from the pacific ocean, and you can skateboard pretty muc everywhere. Harvey Mudd and Pomona have great chemistry programs, Harvey Mudd moreso though. If you want to major in chemistry, Harvey Mudd, if you just want to take a class, any of the Pomona schools (minus Scripps of course :p) fit.

Occidental is 15 minutes from Santa Monica, and two hours from the mountains.

Ucsb…

Hm not sure about University of Washington…

Harvey Mudd is on my list, doubt I’d get in though. I’d go to UCSB if I get accepted into their College of Creative Studies. Occidental is on my list. How far is UCSD from the mountains?

Well a few hours to mountains, either a few hours or no time (unc Wilmington for example) and skating year round.
Ucsd has insane surf nearby and some famous skatespots on campus. Long time to mountains though

Probably a silly suggestion, but you could try Canada and go UBC. Local mountains are awesome, Whistler’s right there if you want the best of the best, got our own skateboard parks and scene, and surfing in Tofino is pretty great I’ve heard. Plus the local beaches are great on their own, but you won’t get great waves.

Yeah I second ubc

I don’t really want to go to Canada =/

How about Massachusetts? You’ve got the Cape beaches for surfing, the Berkshires (and the White Mountains of NH and the Green Mountains of VT) for snowboarding and you’ve got any number of places (including Boston) to skateboard – plus dozens of great colleges and universities to choose from.

Massachusetts sounds fine. How far is the travel? What schools there would you recommend?

Well, if you’re in the greater Boston or Northhampton area, which is where the largest concentrations of schools are, you’re two hours or less to the Berkshires, the VT and NH ski areas and the Cape beaches. What are you interested in majoring in, and what are your stats?

Thinking about majoring in chem. GPA will be 4.1-4.2 W, 3.8-3.9 W. SAT will be atleast 2000, don’t know if I can break 2200. Will take 7-8 APs in high school, math up to differential equations/linear algebra. I have a decent amount of ECs, haven’t cured cancer or anything though.

I would do a search on the College Board website. There are dozens of schools in Mass that would fit your criteria.

Thanks, will do.

Also, are there hills for longboarding virtually everywhere?

In eastern Mass, no; in western Mass, and most of NH and VT, yes.
