Which is overall better for college?

Skateboard-Better for shorter distances, more mobile, easier to carry, less likely to be stolen, but makes you look immature

Bike-Better for long distance traveling, normal people use bikes

I can not tell you in strong enough terms to not use a skateboard.

Bikes:

Require far less energy to go any given distance.
HAVE BRAKES
Have higher top speeds.
HAVE THE ABILITY TO TURN
Can go over a rock without wiping out.

The only time I’d consider a skateboard is if you are planning on riding on nothing but smooth concrete. That means no roads, no sidewalks, and no surfaces with even a pebble on them.

And if you do end up with a skateboard, don’t be on the sidewalks and don’t be in the middle of the bike lane. You have no idea how many times I’ve nearly killed a skateboarder who is on the sidewalk (because I assume everyone on the sidewalk is going walking speed and adjust accordingly until a skateboarder comes out of nowhere because I couldn’t see they were on a board).

definitely a bike but i live in davis so i’m biased

Bike>Longboard>Skateboard

unicycle>all

Longboarding or skating to class is fine if you’re a very good skater and can maneuver effortlessly. I’ve seen tons of longerboarders eat pavement in front of hundreds of people because they hit a small bump or loose brick. You also have to be comfortable with carrying your board into lectures, where you will invariably get tons of weird looks.

A skateboard is not more mobile or easier to carry…

You don’t have to carry a bike, so it is automatically the easiest to carry. Get a halfway decent lock and use it correctly, and your bike will never be stolen. Most colleges are set up so it is extremely easy to find a bike rack near your classroom & dorm. Some of my friends somehow do it, but I couldn’t imagine having to carry a skateboard or longboard into the student center, library, a classroom, etc.

And I am not sure what criteria you used to determine “more mobile”. A skateboard has a smaller footprint than a bicycle, but can only travel on flat paved roads, whereas a bicycle can essentially handle any terrain you would find on a college campus. In terms of maneuverability in tight spots, they are about the same: you’re gonna be on your feet.

Hands down a bike

Yeah, I don’t think the OP has given much thought to what happens after his destination has been reached. You’d have to lug your board into buildings with you, which would be cumbersome and awkward.

^^ Parking can sometimes be a ***** on a bike though. Especially racks that are super crowded. But overall it’s a lot harder to tout a skateboard inside a building.

Bicycle parking is really an art…

That said, there is a good medium between skateboards and bicycles – the folding bicycle; fits right in your backpack.

^ but you look like such a joke riding one :D

skateboard no duh they cool
only skateboard if u can ride good
if u suck dont ride cuz then u look stupid…
and good boards r the same price as bad bikes
