I know most colleges do not allow skateboarders to do tricks, but does UMich at least allow me to ride a skateboard around campus? Or would it be better for me to get a longboard? thanks for responding!

On campus, rollerblading is allowed but skateboarding is not allowed. [Introduction: Alternative Transportation](http://pts.umich.edu/alternative_transportation/)

There are also restrictions on the city sidewalks.

On campus, SO many people ride boards (pretty much strictly longboards) between classes. It seems to be only slightly less popular than biking. I think you should invest in the longboard.

Tons of people longboard here. But its useless during the winter.

We were just in Ann Arbor this weekend…saw lots of boarders in downtown Ann Arbor…from a visitor viewpoint, some were downright rude and about ran us over. But we saw lots of boarders all over campus.

hey res ipa, i think performing tricks are not allowed. i googled ann arbor’s skateboarding history and it appears that skateboarders have caused huge amounts of property damage in the past, and therefore skateboarding was ultimately banned.

it does appear that longboarding seems to be the safest choice. thanks for all the answers and insights!
