Ski Team

I have a GT to Cornell which I might use. I'm a good skier but I've never seriously raced before. I was wondering how serious the ski team is? I know there's a Varsity and JV and I know I'm good enough to do JV but I'm not sure of Varsity so I was hoping someone could give me an idea of how serious it is. Also would it be possible as a transfer student to join a fraternity and be on the ski team or is it too much of a time commitment? Thanks

It’s not very serious and definitely accessible to somebody who hasn’t raced before. It’s also a club team, not a varsity team.

If you join both the ski team and a fraternity, it’s definitely doable, but you probably wouldn’t have much left for academic ECs.

the ski team website said that attendance to all practices isn’t mandatory (as they know that it’s hard to balance a sport and a rigorous coarse-load) but that Varsity members are expected to make a certain amount. Type in ‘Cornell Ski Team’ in google, and it will bring up a cornell.edu page for the team, where you can find more information.
