I am applying to skidmore college and i was wondering what my chances were? Someone already got in ED there from my school and I go to a small school within 2 hours of Skidmore.
I have 3.77 GPA and i am 16 out of 72 in my class. My SATs are 1230/1710. I participate in many clubs and activities. I am the treasurer of both Student council and NHS. I am also leader in my save darfur club. I play soccer and basketball. Do you think I have a good shot? I also what to be a Biology major!

hey can someone please!!! give me their opinions please this is the school i am most worried about?
do you think living near the school is a bad?
do you think being a Biology major will help me because they have a lot of more artsy students?

hey, i’m a college senior applying to skidmore right now, so I’ve been wondering similar things. I seem to be in a pretty similar situation to you. I’m at a small private school about 3 hours from skidmore, and someone at my school got admitted there ED too. Based on what you’ve said, I would guess that you have a pretty decent chance of admission.

I have about a 3.3 gpa, with 1420/2150 SAT scores while taking mostly honors and AP classes. I’ve done a LOT of community service, and I’ve played an instrument in a bunch of different groups for the last 8 years. I’ve also played varsity basketball and football, as well as indoor and outdoor track, and JV volleyball.

So my grades aren’t exceptional (i guess not all GPAs are uniform but at my school, a 3.3 is a B/B+) so I’m relying mostly on my SAT scores and extracurriculars to carry me. I’ve also applied for a music scholarship there, which, even if I don’t get, might help my chances a little bit. I’m considering Skidmore a solid target school: not a reach, not a safety, but right in the middle.

I would guess that you probably have a decent chance of getting in. Your GPA will definitely help you, while your SAT scores won’t (but they probably won’t hurt either). Your extracurriculars are decent, and I don’t know if being interested in Bio will help or hurt. So overall, I would consider you a solid applicant. Best of luck in getting admitted!

oh, and in regards to living close to skidmore - you might lose out if someone with the same credentials as you is applying from the west or the south, but I think that would be like a tiebreaker, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

thanks
and best of luck to you too!

hey anyone else want to chance me on Skidmore?

I don’t know much about Skidmore–I do know that they accept about 30% of 7300 applicants and their 25/75 SAT (CR/M) is about 1150/1350.

A 1230 SAT should put you in the middle of their pool, and if you are male, you will get extra points. So I think you have a pretty good chance.
