Seems like no one has made a thread based on us RD applicants (I myself applied RD). Use this to discuss and talk about your application process to Skidmore! And post your decisions when they come out in late March 2017!
Goodluck to everyone!

Goodluck to everyone!
I sent in my RD application! I’m debating whether or not to send my SAT scores in (send an official report). I self-reported my scores on comm app and forgot to take it out for Skidmore, so they’ll have access to that. R640 M650 W720 old sat, so out of 1600 I have a 1290 and out of 2400 I have a 2010. Should I just send in an official report? I’m worried that my score is just 10 points below the median (1300-1320 is what the website says) but my GPA and course load is pretty good, 4.31 W, full IB student.
Hey! That’s great that you’ve applied? Why wait do close to the deadline tho? . Whether you send it or not depends on you and not the statistics. You will not be penalized if you do not send the scores! Plus, your scores are just one component of your application (and I know you’ve heard this so many times before, but it’s true!). What gets you in is your overall fit with the institution, because honestly, a good amount of applicants are academically qualified, the rest depends on the other components of your application!
That’s great that you’ve applied! *
@pantherpim - don’t think it’s super-important about your scores, but I do know they’ll love the full IB! My kid was full IB and is a freshman there this year. He loves it! Good luck!!
@pantherpim, as others have said, Skidmore will love the IB. DS was an ala carte IB student (ie., not the diploma but courses).
Trust me, I’m not trying to sound snarky, but being right around the median score is not a problem. How do you think it got to be the median?
Nothing you have written suggests that you will have a problem gaining admission. I personally would not pay to have official scores sent, but I would also not avoid it like the plague. Good luck.
D was admitted ED1 as a soccer recruit. Also a full IB diploma kid, which I think helped make up for some uninspired semesters where the GPA took a hit. Being a recruit also helped a lot I would expect.
Did anyone here who applied RD already receive their Application Portal links? I applied on 12/20/2016 and am still waiting for it. I’ve just got two emails till now. One confirming application submission and the other confirming that my financial aid materials were received.
@vaibhavm99 Skidmore does not have applicant portals for their applicants. I asked an admissions officer.
@munit123 Thanks! Any idea how we are supposed to check if everything has reached? Does Skidmore email us if something is missing?
@vaibhavm99 They will send you an email saying that they have received your application and will contact you if there are any missing materials.
hey guys! I’m an international applicant, and I was wondering whether not interviewing (there’s an option for a skype interview for international students) would very negatively affect my chances, seeing as I’m also applying for financial aid (with great need)? Scores-and-grades-wise, though, I think I’m above average… I would request an interview, but I just found out the deadline has passed
hey @neuromaniac ! I’m a fellow international applicant. So according to Skidmore’s website, “Interviews are strongly recommended, but not required, for all applicants.” This means that it could have HELPED your application a bit if you did it and did well in it. BUT it also means that NOT doing it will not HURT you significantly or at all. What were your SAT scores if I may ask?
hey @munit123 , thanks for replying! that’s what i thought, too. I took the ACT, actually, and I got a 32 (composite). What about you?
No problem! I got a 1360/1600 in the new SAT. Not excellent, I know Your score is good!
1370 in SAT GPA (3.99/4) unweighted and strong ECAs, and an international student. What are my chances?
Any final decision ("you’ll get in/ won’t get in) anyone gives you here is a complete amateur and incorrect answer. Unless it’s from a REAL admissions officer. Because you will be viewed in different ways by them since the admissions officers get to read your essay and teacher recommendations. You have a good SAT and GPA and that’s all you need to know from us. Let the admissions team decide
NEW UPDATE ED2 APPLICANTS ARE FREE TO DISCUSS ON HERE AS WELL!
What majors did you apply to? Mine is Computer Science
Also almost everybody is RD I have applied ED2 and I need your help people. First of all nice to meet you! Hope we all get in :D/ I am international student from Georgia (country one not state) and my SAT is 1260 MATH650 ENG610. I am aware that it is not a decent score and I am taking it again this Saturday to increase it at least 50 points but cuz I have applied ED it is not gonna be considered. I AM FREAKING OUT RN!! I really want to get in to Skidmore and I am worried I made a wrong move. Although my gpa is not bad (4,8/5) and have a silver medal in an international math olympiad (I know u will think then what is ur SAT score but I honestly had some problem with test), playing tennis and bunch of other activities I am afraid I wont get in.
Have I done a terrible mistake by applying ED2 and not applying RD? Should I have wait to sent my upcoming SAT?
I need a full scholarship but since Skidmore is generous I am not concerned about it. I rushed writing this so please ignore my mistakes.(I am not native it is another reason of my poor English)
PS I interviewed and it went very good. She was very nice and positive to me. I dont know how much it will affect the whole thing.
PS2 You can tell that I dont have an impressive stats no AP low SAT and NO SAT2 and I should acknowledge it but my school was not supportive and I didnt have the most quality education. They always discouraged me by telling that I will never be able to score more than 1100 and I am not qualified. I improved my English and SAT myself and it was painstaking process and currently I am the most successful student of my school. I am not writing this out of arrogance. I have explained it to admission officer too. Please take this fact into consideration maybe it can effect their decision.
Thank you for reading. Please let me know your thoughts
