**Skidmore Class of 2021! RD Official Thread**

@JaxBlueman I’m so sorry! I based that number off of the people on how many that my friend told me are on their Facebook group. Yes, your calculations are correct. About 40% of the class enrolled from the ED accepted pool.

@JaxBlueman Of the 10,000 total applicants, many weren’t accepted ED. So I would think that would mean that the number: 9300 prospective RD students still out there, is incorrect, and is much lower. Do we know how many applied ED?

No, the 9300 number would be correct, unless there is a large swing this year, from past historical numbers.

Assuming the same 50% Skidmore ED applicant acceptance rate as in years past, and also assuming the same 49% of the 20121 incoming class being filled with ED applicants, the numbers break down as follows…

10,000 total applicants for the class of 2021
660-700 estimated total 2021 class size
49% of that 660-700 class size to be filled via ED applicants, or 330-350 ED students.
50% historical Skidmore ED applicant acceptance rate. Therefore, approx. 700 total ED applicants.
10,000 grand total applications - the 700 ED applicants = 9300 RD applicants still to be decided on. (plus any number of deferred ED applicants that are pushed into the RD pool )
An estimated RD acceptance yield of 25% means 340 x 4 = 1360 projected RD accepted students will be necessary to fill the remaining open 330-350 class spots.

So, 1360/9300 = 14.6% RD acceptance rate.

Even if the total ED applicants this year skyrocketed to a total of 1000, (a 42% increase over last years 700) the total RD acceptance rate wouldn’t change that much. 1360/9000 = 15.1%
and frankly that 15.1% number is probably generous, because I’m not accounting for any ED applicants who weren’t initially accepted via ED, and have been deferred into the RD pool, or the fact that because Skidmore is a ‘hot’ school, the actual RD yield rate they project may be higher than 25%, which would in turn lower the total number of RD acceptances necessary to fill the class.

Without going through the entire math, Skidmore should expect an ~32% RD acceptance rate this year, which would be (relatively) good news for the applicants on this thread who have been awaiting their decisions.

(The calculations up-thread appear not to have accounted for the differential between ED and RD yields.)

Oh wow

Do you guys ever feel a few admissions officers come on here to see how we’re faring? Like I know I’d do it as one just for a little break.

actually yes, i do, haha

We’re in March!! Haha. Happy New Month! Ans happy decisions month

i can’t believe it’s march already!! haha. happy decisions month!

has anyone emailed or called admissions lately to ask when decisions will be sent out?

What shall be the latest date by which I could send an important update. I know, that by now most of the decisions have been finalised, but it is something that will greatly help my application and may compel them to re review my application. Please help!!!

I’d ask the admissions office if it’s possible to send that additional material. But honestly, I don’t think now is the best time to be doing that because of some obvious reasons.

This is entirely up to you.

@munit123 Some obvious reasons?? For example…

Well, the fact that they’ve probably made some decisions. But also because right now they’re be so busy reading the applications that sending that additional information may make you seem clumsy or something, because you were given a deadline. It’d be a different case if it’s something that someone else like your school counselor was supposed to send but couldn’t because of some external factors.

@intellectboy If I were you I would send anyways with a strong excuse. If you thing it will make a significant change go for it.

@intellectboy Sure they might be busy, but that shouldn’t stop you from sending over extra stuff if you’re confident it’ll help; plus it’s not like you had control over when you got the important update

I’d send if i were you; what’s there to lose?

You know these early letters some top schools send to their very top applicants? I have a feeling Skidmore will start doing that in the near future.

do we know if they’ve done that in the past?
