Skidmore International Students

that’s pretty much it. it’s not like i’m obsessed over rankings or which one is the most selective, but I wanna do the best I can, academically.

sadly, i can’t really pay much, so I have to hope ‘better schools’ will like me enough to offer the aid i need.

I get exactly what you are saying. We are similar is so many ways as it relates to tis whole process. The only difference is that may obsess over ranking a little bit more…:). Wherever you go, you do extremely well!

thaanks, man.

and waaaht, just looked at your page and we’re the same age!
i thought I was really odd, because all applicants are like 17/18…

and yes, we’ll both do extremely well. you say you care about rankings, which one is your top choice/dream school?

lol. I sat out a year after high school…and Jamaica’s high school system goes up to 13th grade so…

Well…my Dream schools are really, ST. Olaf and Furman. As much as I pay attention to rankings, I dont fool my self.

My three reaches are Vanderbilt, Carleton and Colby. I cant tell when last I spoke of those three schools…lol I intend to just see an email/or mail telling me that I was accept/reject/waitlist. If I get into any of them, then I will start to paint a dream…

are you going to be able to visit any of these schools?

I have some friends at Colby as well. Isn’t it like really isolated and cold? :stuck_out_tongue: it sounds very opposite to Jamaica. (btw, i think you country rocks.)

Nope. I wont be visiting. And yes! Colby and St. Olaf are COLD!!! Jamaica is indeed the complete opposite. I see my self cursing in Jamaican when winter hits! Lol! (Heck, I curse when the air-conditioning gets chilly) lol

And thank you. Jamaica is a great place. I dont know much about Brazil, but from what I know, the country is kool. The girls are HOT! ^.^

yeah, every girl in Brazil looks like a Victoria Secret’s Angel or someone from Will.I.Am videos… NOT! =P

what are you gonna do about winter clothes, buy them in the u.s. or take from home (i’m seriously worried about this)?

HAHA!

I am buying them once I am in the U.S. Jamaica doesnt really have an array of winter clothing…for obvious reasons…

Dont worry, you will get great clothing once you arrive in the US of A. Most colleges in the cold offer guidance to students especially internationals on how to prepare for winter.

What’s your major?

that’s great to hear. I have NO IDEA of what to wear when the temperature is under 18°C.

So, that’s the deal, I’m very ambitious/unrealistic about my major.

I want to double major and minor. Possible majors: Poli Sci (for sure), Romantic languages (maybe). Possible minor: Art History or Economy (perhaps a major).

I’m willing to do more than four years of college if necessary, since a liberal arts education may not guarantee my future (hard to find jobs in the US for intls and Brazil doesn’t really get what liberal arts is - my friends think it sounds like pole dance) I want to cover all the bases/interests I can pursue a career in. What about you? What’s your area?

:) Good.

NI do intend on working hard on getting a job after college. I plan on studying Economics…I want to double it up with Sociology/Poli Sci/Math or any other area that I may find very interesting when I start.

I am a strong believer in a liberal arts education! I like Skidmore’s business program tho…

don’t get me wrong… I love liberal arts education and I think there is nothing else in the academic world that could satisfy me as much as it. but I think we need to be realistic about future job prospects, mainly, because we are internationals.

unless you return to your country, assuming your country has a great job market for humanities-educated people. or you get married to an American, or win the green-card lottery. but i’d like to return home at some point. (:

:) I understand. Did you get an email from Skidmore today? I haven’t…

When’s the decision coming out guys? Email or snail mail?

decision was mailed out yesterday. I dnt know when we will be getting the emails…

oh gosh. is there any chance admissions staff will working over the weekend and send us these e-mails?

if i’m about to get rejected i’d rather have it by e-mail. and ONLY by e-mail.

i was deferred ED by Reed in December, five days before my birthday. and the world was gracious enough to make me receive the actual letter on Christmas.

it’s awful to think that i’ll get all waity for a letter that’s coming from overseas telling me NO.

Inaperfectworld can you please pm me or tell me here about some universities which have rolling/late deadlines and give considerable amount of aid to internationals?
Thanks. I really need your help!

Has any one gotten an e-mail already?

i’m dying.

Nope, I haven’t received any email. I am thinking that I am rejected…I think they would send out all acceptances first…ah well.

I hope you guys get in though… you guys seem to want it more than I do.

Yeah, i agree with the logic that the latest you’re notified the most likely you’re to be rejected…

Right now, i just hope at least one of us get in.

I haven’t heard yet :disappointed_relieved:
