Accepted! SAT 1500, GPA weighted 4.2 unweighted around 3.7
@Teddy71 The letter says that there are only 710 spots available. This means that there are way more than 710 acceptances, as not everyone who is accepted will end up attending Skidmore.
But that wouldn’t even be an acceptance rate of 6 percent. We need to know how many were accepted to get that percentage. Having this discussion right now in my house Acceptance here.
I got accepted!
ACT scores: 31, 32 (33 superscore)
GPA: weighted >4
Does anyone know when merit scholarships are posted or offered?
Filene invitations went out at the beginning of March.
Accepted
33 ACT
4.3 weighted GPA
Accepted!!!
Denied.
35 ACT, 44 IB, international looking for full aid.
Aha. Thanks. Explains why I would never get into Skidmore.
I FEEL YOU!! Just got my decision and I was rejected :// My stats were okay (1530 SAT, 4.0 Gpa, cool extras, super personal essay, etc). I should add that I’m an international student from Russia applying for financial aid. So yeah. I guess Skidmore isn’t that great with poor internationals…
Rejected
An international student with a huge financial need. 1500 SAT SAT II 800, 700
@alexmake I have to agree, they don’t care about poor international students.
This is my first decision letter and I am trying not to take it as a bad sign. I am very anxious about the other colleges.
My DD was waitlisted. Very surprised. Really thought this was a great match for her- although she needed a lot of $$, so definitely am wondering if that played a role in it.
Wait listed. And, honestly, I do not understand. My D is in the top of her class, great test scores, at the interview they encouraged her to apply early decision and apply for the Porter Scholarship (her SAT Science and Math Subject scores are in the 700’s and we sent those). She loved Skidmore, but we are not in a financial position to apply early decision because we need to wait on financial packages. I do realize there are other deserving kids out there who probably got in, but this was one of her top choices and we honestly thought with her grades and numbers and service (and objectively she is a sweet, sweet kid) she would have gotten in. Help me understand.
@JWU1964 I am honestly in a similar boat as you. My DD did not submit her SAT scores, because they do not reflect her as a student, but everything else is stellar. She is 2nd in her class, class treasurer, involved in clubs, sports and volunteering. She has amazing LORs, did top notch summer programs (one of them Skidmore specifically recruits from), visited the campus and had a spectacular interview. I absolutely wonder if her financial need was the hindrance.
This is my fourth child through the process, and we could usually prepare for the rejections and wait lists. Again, I don’t mean to diminish the accomplishments of those accepted, but my D is 8th in a class of 320, ACT and SAT really high, community service volunteer, works two jobs. The interview was great and they really harped on her applying ED and we just could not. She couldn’t apply anywhere ED. If you need to wait on money, it’s not an option. Sigh. Rejection is part of life, so live and learn. I do think the kids sometimes recover from these decisions faster than the parents do. LOL.
And, again, CONGRATS to all those accepted. Very happy for those kids who got in–my comments are not meant in any way to diminish the wonderful accomplishment.
Exactly that is my case
My child has 3 friends who applied and heard yesterday. One is an okay student who is full pay and they got in. One is a great student, but no hooks and needs aid and they were waitlisted. The third is a great student, has a hook and has financial need and got accepted.
