Did anyone else on this site apply for round one early decision to Skidmore? I'm wondering when they notify us of their decisions, because the website just says "mid December"? Also, it would be interesting to hear why everyone else loves it as much as I do.

My daughter applied ED & fell in love with the school…just the overall feel was kind of “campy” and casual however the kids we met were intelligent, engaging & had a great sense of humor. She wants to major in english w/emphasis on creative writing has a substantial background in drama/music & chorus and this is right up her alley…why did you like it so much?

I loved it for all those same reasons. I’m interested in the fine arts and social sciences, and Skidmore is the only liberal arts school I have come across that doesn’t just say it values the arts, but truly does. Does your daughter feel confident that she will be getting in?

I just applied ED. I visited twice and my interviewer loved me which I guess is good news… I absolutely love the atmosphere and the people. Everyone is intelligent, bright, and has something to say which is what I love. I plan, if I am accepted, to major in English and Education Studies.

Oh and I asked my interviewer and he said we will hear back the latest by December 15 so less than a month!!! my fingers are crossed for everyone!

Who did you interview with?? I know I’m getting so excited! I just want to find out for sure though, the next few weeks are going to be so painful!

I interviewed with Matthew Cohen.

My interviewer’s name was Bob Shore. He was incredible! He was very nice and understanding and he also was impressed with my knowledge of the school… he said something along the lines of, " I guess I won’t need to sell Skidmore to you!" He loved the lit mag that I am head editor of. It’s like a 200 page book. He was very impressed that it was done by high schoolers.

Oh, did you get a letter?
My interviewer sent me a handwritten letter saying it was a pleasure to meet me and blah blah blah…

Yeah when I visited everyone was so welcoming and genuinely helpful, which was really nice. Yep I got a letter too, it was a nice touch! Good luck!!

My daughter appled ED1. Loved the science facilities and the size of the school. Most “smal liberal arts” schools that allow undergrads to conduct research are toooo small her, so Skidmore is unique in that regard. She also loved the feel of the campus and Saratoga Springs. We’re from Dallas and she wants to go “up north” for college.

Is your daughter really applying as a science major?
I heard the science department isn’t anything special. Skidmore is more known for their arts and english programs.

But science is one of the few areas of study in which Skidmore has merit scholarships.

True, but if you wanted to major in science you don’t go to a school just because it offers a scholarship in science, you go to a school where the science program is a stronger part of the school with the best professors.

22 days everyone!!! i hear that the envelop is huge it has a folder in it that says congrats you are in! or something like that…

I just want to KNOW already!!

I would be surprised if the ED acceptance came in a fat envelope! That would be only if they were sending alot of information about the school. Don’t faint if the letter comes in a regular envelope!

My friend who got in ED last year said it was a large envelope with a folder that says YOUR IN! on it.

Less than two weeks!!!

Good luck to all! I believe it does come in a large envelope. Anyways, 12 days and counting!
