skidmore vs conncoll

i have read in a couple of places that skidmore and connecticut college are ranked and seen similarly. What do you think?

thoughts?? comments??

bump!!!!!!!

i am looking for great theater and good in other arts. Also interested in languages and marine biology! i would love to hear something about these two if you have any information

Have you visited either school? Their is a clear difference just from the moment you step on campus. To me, Conn College was sort of bland. Most people were from Boston and super, super, LL Bean preppy. It's just not my thing. There is also a huge racial divide on campus. Skidmore is much more laid-back. The whole school has a very distinct character and feel to it. Conn College is ranked higher than Skidmore, but I visited classes at both schools and I would say that Skidmore had a much more intellectually stimulating class discussion. Skidmore is great for the arts. I don't know about biology, look into it.

The two schools often get lumped together because they were former women's colleges that have long been co-ed, have no football teams, have a tradition of strength in the arts, and belong to the same selectivity tier (they're virtually tied in selectivity in the latest USNews ranking). Like juicy, I think there are really different feels to the campuses, though I might characterize it differently. Skidmore comes of a bit more artsy, quirky, unconventional. Unconventional is the last word that would leap to mind to describe Conn, but I don't mean that in any negative way. It just seems like a typical Northeast LAC. Bio is a good program at Conn; the closest person to a marine biologist, though, is someone who does work on microbes that live in salt-water environments. I don't know anything about bio at Skidmore.

thanks! yea i have visited both and got the same idea but i was just wondering why they were put together.
