Skidmore vs. Occidental

I'm looking to apply ED and its between Skidmore and Occidental. I went to California last year and took a tour of the campus but didnt get to check out their theater dept. and i know the Skidmore theater pretty well but i'd love for more incite on both. So basically if someone knows anything about Occidentals theater program or if they went there and liked it? Also is it a BA or BFA program?

Thanks!!

Dear Ahagerbrant,

I’m an intern in the Oxy Admissions Office, and I also participate in theater! I love that I can be a science major and still participate fully in Oxy shows, but there’s definitely a full BA program here. Oxy theater has a pretty wide range of events, usually at least 4 mainstage productions per year (often a pretty even split between classic and alternative theater styles). I’m currently working with a production that has no set script-- it’s a creative collaboration, and that’s the kind of theater undergrads can’t usually participate in. We also have a New Play Festival, Student Directed shows and a wide variety of guest professors and artists that lead workshops every year. There’s also a wide variety of opportunity available in tech theater.

Hope that helps!

Both are great schools

Have you visited the campuses? I live in Saratoga springs, and can say that the city is beautiful through the year, and the campus is very nice. The local businesses get along very well with students as well.
