I will agree that getting my license a year later than everyone else in my grade sucks, though. Otherwise, I see no disadvantages.

So far, does your son see a gap between he and his classmates? That is, socially?..

I’d say go for it. I skipped seventh grade and it turned out really well; if he has the maturity for it, and the social skills to fit in, it will work fine. A year of high school can offer a lot more than a year of high school…

just make him do 8th grade and send him to a prestigious boarding school

I know someone who skipped 2 grades. His parents were highly involved in his education. He switched schools twice in the span of two years. People are fairly nice to him, but treat him like a teddy bear. He hasn’t had any problems with people bullying him. He looks even younger than his age. But, the only problem with him is mostly his social life and more importantly his dating life. He really doesn’t have that much people to have a real conversation with, since they think he is just a little kid. A lot of girls @this age i know think it would be disgusting to date him because of his young age and the fact that he looks even younger than his age.

You know, it sounds neat to skip, but then when you do it’s no big deal. It has to be what is best for you and where you really do fit. There is nothing wrong with soaking up more information and not skipping, but trying to find something to challenge you. Lots of kids in high school take college classes without being a full-time college student.
